"reimagined under the world-renowned expertise of Walt Disney Imagineers and is expected to set sail in 2025."
"addition of this ship will make a
Disney Cruise Line vacation accessible to more families than ever before,"
No mention of lot's of stuff, but they clearly are making this a
DCL ship and still are focused on family experiences. I think the only way Disney would have kept a Casino, would be a new brand and look.
As for where it will sail from... a lot might depend on what ports are planning to have facilities for distribution of "green methanol" by 2025. I expect that the Global Dream was going to be a traditional marine oil burner, which wouldn't work with Disney's environmental friendly plans. It would have likly been too big of a redesign, to change to LNG like most newer ships, as the fuel storage and engines are very different. Methanol is something several lines are looking at for their existing fleets, in order to meet newer environmental requirements. It isn't nearly as hard to convert too as it is a liquid fuel. But it's one of several alternative fuels being considered for shipping . How many fuel options can ports afford to offer?
Norwegian Cruise Line chose not to jump on the LNG band wagon... they are just now planning for their experimenting with dual-fuel options of diesels/methanol. They would use diesel while cruising, but use methanol while docked. Most likly due to methanol greatly reducing fuel economy or how far a ship can sail per gallon of fuel... and it's much higher costs at this point.
Anyway... what ports are planning to offer Methanol in 2025? Or will Disney end up having to dual fuel it as well?
