Does Disney care less about DVC members now?

Yeah. That’s what we are considering… not going at all bc we definitely are hankering for an exit strategy. Maybe others are fine continuing to pay these prices but I’m not anymore.

I have 400 points and if I don’t use them I either have to rent or lose them. That’s over $3k in maintenance fees.

$3400 for hotel (dvc maintenance fees- boardwalk 1bd std/studios)
$3300 for park tickets (10 day hopper X 4ppl)
$2k airfare ($500 X 4ppl)
$200 transportation costs (both ends)

Thats $9k and we generally spend $1.5k per week on food or more (that’s only $210/day for a family of 4…. Not much by Disney standards at $50pp/day. That’s barely enough for one sit down dinner per person!)

I hope Disney is listening before we decide we would rather pocket the $$, sell or rent our dvc, and just not go to Disney going forward.

We aren’t big spenders. Would be nice to have that $12,000 that would otherwise be spent on a Disney vacation. That’s not chump change. And no, we cannot drive to Disney. Or not go in the parks while we are there. The whole point was to be next to the parks and make it easy with kids.

Not having access to the AP and paying $825+ per park ticket for 10 days really put us over the edge and has left a terribly sour taste in our mouth.

Our kids would likely have just as much fun elsewhere for a whole lot less than $12,000. And my bank account a wee bit happier.
Have you looked into the UK tickets? A 14 day pass is cheaper than the normal 10 day pass.

It’s not just me that’s disgruntled. Ticket prices are too high.

This is what we do. We always purchase the 14 day pass (sometimes they have them on sale for the same price as a 7 day pass). The nice thing about these passes aside from the fact that they are cheaper than a 10 day pass, is that they automatically include PH, WP and Photopass. We're from Canada and have never had a problem purchasing them with a Cdn CC and linking them to MDE. I have a also heard that they will sell to US citizens as well though I'm not 100% sure on that. Never been asked to prove residency either. Hope it's ok to post, these are a couple of the sites that we've purchased from: https://www.attractiontickets.com/en-ie and https://www.americanattractions.co.uk/

Thank you so so so much … maybe I can try these but when I tried to buy off Disney’s site I couldn’t!! I was afraid to use other sites in case they were not legit…. Can I PM you? This would honestly be such a relief if I can get a 14 day pass on my 16 night trip!!

Since I already bought 10 day tickets from UCT and linked to my MDE, does anyone know if I cancel for a fee and buy these tickets that’s 14 days?? It would be so nice tbh… hoping this can be done…

I can tell you that the UT tickets are refundable with a 5% fee..even when linked…I don’t think I would be comfortable using tickets that I don’t qualify for because if you get there, and you have an issue..and the CM won’t allow use, what would you do?

I guess the question becomes, is there a qualification to buy those tickets. I can't find anything that says those tickets are JUST for residents of the UK, but I may not be looking in the right place.

The removal of TIW was the one I hated the most, the last stay we decided not to eat onsite much, as we had a car we went out and about if Disney can't throw me a bone why should I give them even more of my cash. Bring back TIW and a decent AP and I will be more happy

The sites I linked are definitely legit. Attraction Tickets will let you ammend or cancel for free. But everyone has their own level of comfort too for purchasing on the internet- I understand that. Everytime we go, we always purchase our e-tickets from one of the sites I linked and add it to MDE, no problem. They even used to have 21 day tickets but those went away with the pandemic. If you check out the UK thread and the Cdn thread, you'll find plently of people purchasing tickets through them. I wish Disney just sold them here too but - oh well.

Not questioning that they sell tickets that are not valid but if these are for UK..and potentially Canadian citizens,, and it’s not for US..then I would not want to be dependent on a CM who may or may not decide to let you use them, regardless of others experiences.

Oh I understand now - sorry about that (boy do I sound Cdn saying sorry). There are U.S. citizens buying and using them too but everyone's comfort level is unique.

I like Disney as resort only stays because I know what I am getting, a nice clean room, a nice pool, a resort with endless activities for my kids, tons of dining options, Disney Springs, we don't have to drive anywhere and love taking the Skyliner and monorail rides. I have traveled a lot in the past and you don't know what you're getting, you can get to the hotel or airbnb and it could be a total dump or in a bad area. I love being in the Disney bubble.
Our thoughts exactly! We enjoy staying in the bubble at SSR, catching the short boat ride to DS to partake in all the dining opportunities and outside entertainment provided there, riding the busses and monorail to other resorts for meals, and taking the Skyliner to the BW. Parks are out for us for now unless the crowding and ticket prices drop somewhat in the future. We, however, now spend a lot of money on DCL cruises.

Parks are out for us as well unless AP’s come back and honestly my husband and 4 year old could not care less about going into the parks haha. They like taking it easy when we go and just exploring the entire property. We definitely want to try DCL, in college my boyfriend worked for Norwegian and we went on cruises constantly but the Disney cruises look like they are on another level!

I was there last weekend for the AP preview of Tron. A friend and I pulled together a 3 day weekend last minute, we stayed at POR. We used Genie+ and had 6 rides at Epcot in the morning/early afternoon on Sunday. Frozen was the first but after that, the rides on the right of Future World were practically instant return times. I didn’t consider it a burden to pull out my phone and choose the next one. We also had virtual queue for Guardians but didn’t use it because the return line was out the door and around the corner.

We’re lucky, we both have our AP’s, didn’t cancel. Going again next month for our already planned vacation at Poly. No complaints.

I bought 5 of the 14 day tickets from AttractionTickets.com last month (I'm a US citizen). I did due diligence reading reviews, emailed their customer service to verify they can sell to US citizens (with US addresses and US credit cards), then did the purchase and linked the 5 tickets to our MDE accounts... all checked out as valid by Disney. There was, on top of the low discount, another 5% off for buying in February, so we paid less for these than an 8 day base tickets. It has saved us a lot of money for our upcoming trips. They also throw in a bunch of perks that we probably won't use, but maybe others would.

Yup. And we dvc ppl can’t get access to it. Makes me so mad. You have to buy it in the UK with a UK address and credit card
As others have mentioned, this is not correct. We bought tickets and used them on our last trip in 2022.

I hate having to look at my phone all day. It doesn't make the experience better, actually worst. You're running into people, and truly cannot enjoy the day at the park. I don't feel immersive as I once did or prior to all these changes.
This!! I realized that Disney trips (while fun for our kids) were exhausting for me (wake at 6:50, get shot full of adrenaline for VQ and G+ and ILLs, fail to go back to sleep, wake everybody at 8, scramble plans on the fly always looking at my phone, figuring out VQ return, next G+ reservation slot, whether or ADRs are going to conflict, etc., run back and forth across parks to avoid crowds and do Genie+/ILL), but even worse than the exhaustion is that I spend very little time present and relaxing with my kids. I know part of it is on me as a neurotic maximizer, but when paying $1000-2000/day (tix, G+/ILL, food, merch) I want to see and do as much as possible. We migrated towards DCL, which has annoying advance planning stress, but is pretty laid back once you actually get on the ship.

Recently, we went to Universal Hollywood and did the express pass and it was a revelation— I just paid the extra up front and we could go through the park at the pace we wanted, in the direction we wanted, and ride everything once (with much shorter average waits than the average G+ return). Made me glad we didn’t renew our Magic Keys at Disneyland. I prefer the Disney IP and vibe, but not so much that I want to pay $1000+/day to be frustrated and exhausted.
