Does DCL mail purchases??

Funny you should ask.

All I can say is I am awaiting a purchase from the 5/11 cruise. It is not a real quick or reliable service in my opinion. I am not a happy camper at this time.

Expect to make several calls to DCL and get the runaround. I was even told that purchases were held for shipping till they could get shipping boxes. I checked my drivers license and July 16, 2002 is not my birthday.

After my being persistant for about two weeks DCL is starting to address the issue.

Maybe I am jumping the gun here but I think two months is a little unreasonable, even if an item needs to clear customs. I just want to know if things have been lost or whatever.

I am expecting a call tomorrow morning, so we will see how this is resolved.

I would suggest to anyone to keep track of days, times and who you spoke with. This is a habit I have picked up over the years due to my job and it helps at times like these.

I always thought DCL should have a shipping desk shoreside for packages to be shipped that were purchased onboard.

I think people would buy much more knowing that they would not have to lug it all home in suitcases on planes and such.

We always ship our purchases home from WDW and would love it if DCL did it on a reliable basis. I did not know they would ship anything, so I was surprised that you said they shipped something for you. Did you do it onboard or once you got back at the terminal?

I hope DCL resolves your problem quickly from here on in. Good luck.

MJ

I just received a call from DCL reference my purchase. It was shipped today and they were able to provide a tracking number for FedX.

They were very apologetic yet they were unable to provide me with a reason for the delay.

So to answer your question, yes they do have a shipping service. Just makle sure you keep your documentation in order.

It might be eaiser to go to the local MBE and do your own shipping. There is one located in Coco Beach.

I was frustrated in that I had to go to this extent to get a resolution.

We were on the 6/23 Wonder and we purchased quite a bit on board ship (DW decorating new laundry room with nautical theme) including the Captain's Hat I won in the silent auction. We asked about shipping in the Treasure Ketch and were told that they did not ship because of Customs (having to declare, you have to take the items off the ship etc.). As we were were staying at the Boardwalk for a day after the cruise (DVC member), we simply took our purchases to the shipping center at the Boardwalk Conference Center and shipped them from there. The CMs there were wonderful! Not only do they have some of the best packers I've ever seen, everything arrived home within a week (we shipped one box 2nd day air-gifts for friends, rest was sent FedEx ground)!

Scott...I am assuming you are talking about the map you bid on. What did they tell you before you left the ship. That is ridiculous. Did they charge your credit card in May?

Hope you enjoy it when you finally get it.

Yep it is the map. And I have it in my paws now.

Yes my credit card was charged in May. At that time I was told it would take 4-6 weeks as items shipped from the ship needed to go through a customs clearing house.

I started making calls at the 6 week mark and at first was told to expect to see the map the first week of July. I placed a call the next week and got a bit of a runaround. No return calls were made. This week I wrote letters (email) to Guest Communications and laid out the whole history. The person who in charge of shipping the items from the ships was on days off (7/16 and 7/17).

Well the map arrived via Fedex on 7/18 shipped by order of the person who was off.

I will get get it framed and make a digital photo to share with anyone who wishes. Maybe get a digital before it is framed that may be better.

Again I was frustrated and disapointed I had to go to that extent to get results from Disney.

FYI
Please allow me to explain why shipping is not done for 6 weeks even tho credit cards are processed at ordering - This was explained to me extensively by another company - A credit card is charged for the amounts order comes to - then a waiting period goes into process - this will allow the charge to appear first on the credit card and then if there is any dispute about purchases etc - the items are already paid for - this also insures that the charge cards are valid. It was explained to me due to the high amount of fraudulent cards, this deters further problems - I found this in my business and could not understand why - this explains also ads on TV which you will find when ordering - you will be told 6 weeks before receiving merchandise - I understand if you pay with cash or cashier's check - then merchandise will be shipped out sooner -
This could be the answer to the listed problems of not receiving merchandise for 6 weeks- Ask for reasons of delay - most will not tell the above.
Hope this will help
always
Shirley
