Does country where tile is made matter re: quality?

I've been searching for tile for our kitchen. I've narrowed it down to a couple of choices, and continue to agonize over it . The one I like the most is from Turkey... does that matter? I have heard that Italian and Spanish are the best, but does anyone know how Turkish rates? It's a rating of 4, which seems fine, but curious if the whole "made in turkey" is a consideration.

I have Italian tile and while get get many compliments on it and it is extremely thick, the top layer where the color is, isn't very thick and it chips easily and leaves a dark mark where you can see the clay. It looks like a speck of dirt of trash on my floor. They suggested using a clay paint but it is a pain in the butt.

I don't know anything about the differences in tiles & countries. I'd say go by reputation and reviews if you can.

Maybe try a floor epoxy paint?

thanks - think I'm going to go with the Turkish tile. It's a porcelain tile throughout, and the company really seems to stand behind it, so hopefully it'll work

We have some tile from Turkey. I remember thinking "tile is from Turkey??" when they told me. It looks just like all of our other tile & no complaints. We also have a slab of granite from Turkey - from a different company that sold us the tile at the same time - so I'm assuming Turkey is big in natural resources for stone.
