Does changing tickets affect FP+?

Here's the dilemma: DH and I purchased a room/ticket package for our anniversary next week. We originally just got 1 day tickets and we've already picked out our FP+ for Saturday the 18th.

Now that we've gotten to think about it, we really would rather go ahead and buy the FL Resident Seasonal passes so that we can also visit the park on Sunday and we have also planned a trip with our kids in late November/early December.

I know we can't upgrade our tickets to SP's online or over the phone, but we also don't want to spend the first 30 mins of our trip waiting in line at Guest Relations when we'd rather be trying to get a good spot in line for 7DMT.

So, my question is, would we be able to go ahead and purchase SP's online, attach them to our MDE and reservations, then cancel the 1 day tickets without losing the FP+ that we have reserved? Would we even be able to cancel the 1 day tickets since they are part of a package? Or are we better off just waiting at Guest Relations at the beginning of the trip?

I have been searching the forums for an answer but haven't found anything specific to buying a new SP and canceling the 1 day.
