Does anyone work in a doctor's office in the front? How much are you paid (we are in Connecticut)?

I was laid off from a Fortune 500 company and there may be a possibility of job in a doctor's office. I know there will be a pay cut involved, but trying to get an idea of how much and if it is feasible.

Thanks.

My SIL has done that type of work in the past. She made minimum wage, or very close to it (Pittsburgh suburban area).

Most range from $7.50 - $12 per hour depending on experience and the office itself. We are in the southern part of LA and the lower part of the cost of living scale.

My mom does this at 2 seperate offices--She makes between $10-15 and has been doing it for over 15 years...

I have worked at a doctor's office for 5 years (in the front) started off $8 and now is $10.50. Small office in Western MA

I had a career change after a lay off in 2007.

I started working for a large practice in January 2008 making over 13.00 per hr now I am making just under $15.00 per hour.

Yes, you will take a huge cut in your paycheck. By the way, I love the job!

I just started 2 months ago and make 13.00. I work up front. This is in VA side of DC.
