I was offered a job there and was wondering how the company is to work for?I was going to take the real estate course and still will some time but we are wanting to build a house next year and i need income every week and if I do the real estate course pay checks are not guaranteed.

From what I have heard they are a great company to work for.I was more impressed when she told me that I would be working mostly days and that I could have every other weekend off. They seem to have a great benefit package.

So can anyone tell me anything about them?

Thanks

A co-worker use to work there for a little extra money. She loved working for them. I think it always depends on how good management is. She was lucky and had a good manager that worked around her regular job. I think she had an hourly pay plus commission. She did pretty good from what I can recall.

I don't work there, but I have a friend who does.

The benefits as far as insurance go aren't as good as they used to be. Dillard's pays $1 per hour for full time employees on the higher end insurance they offer. Problem is, the insurance just recently increased nearly 50%, but Dillards did not increase what they pay.

Also, it isn't really a commission, but you have sales quotas you have to meet. If you fall below those quota's for a quarter, you get a $1 per hour pay cut. That can continue on as long as you don't meet quotas and for the last quarter, almost every employee in her department got hit with a pay cut. Making quota's is very difficult.

Because of that, it can be very competitive between employees. If you're agressive and don't mind the pressure, she says the working conditions are fine.

Peachgirl - I didn't know about the pay cut. The coworker is very competitive and aggressive sometimes more than she shoud be, LOL. She always did really good (that was about two yrs ago).

All I can say is don't get hurt while working there! No one ever plans on getting hurt on the job; but it can and does happen!

My best friend was working there in the furniture department there. Several people had complained about this rug that was not tacked down. You guessed it; she tripped and fell. She hit her knee on a stone coffee table and landed hard on her entire left side. It's a long story but she is still battling with their insurance company and workman's comp. She was denied a MRI that the doctor ordered to determine the extent of her injury. It has been 8 months and the issue has still not been resolved! A kind doctor x-rayed her back for free. The damage done to the left side was extensive. Her spine has now curved due to not getting proper treatment.

The lawyer for Dillard's or their insurance company didn't show up in court! She has been on medical leave as she has not been released by the doctor to go back to work. Earlier this week Dillard's sent her a letter of termination; which she has a case to go after them for wrongful termination! If that is how they treat their employees than I wouldn't want to work there. But that is my opinion!
