Does anyone watch Showtime's series Shameless?

It's one of my favorite series on right now. Last night was the end of season 5. Not crazy about the finale, though. I expected more excitement. Can't wait for it's return.

The writing has been very uneven this season. We wondered after the episode last night if they had written and filmed without knowing if they were coming back, which they are, for another season. Looked like they went out of their way to give some closure to everyone.

So much has been so unrealistic especially this season. Fiona has no Children's Services eyes checking in on them at all, even after Carl is arrested -- on a major drug case? Fiona doesn't deserve custody. We're kind of left in the dark about Ian's age at this point, so can't say if his situation wouldn't have warranted attention also.

Lip is my favorite and I'm afraid we're going to see things go very bad for him. He's the one who is ready to move on from the freak show.

I hope jail will mean the end of Sammie on our screens. Ugh!

I've been watching this show for the past few seasons, it's a crazy trainwreck of a story line. There's not one character on that show capable of making a smart decision, is there? Not that some don't have positive attributes, but every single person seems destined to continue down the path of failure. I thought Lip might be the one to pull himself out, but his whole sitch may be going south in the next season.

We found this show a couple of seasons ago and loved it. I'm not sure that it's all that realistic (for reasons already stated), but we were entertained by the lengths the characters would go to just to get by and spent most of the time with our jaws on the floor.

We went back and watched seasons 1 & 2 and were equally as shocked.

I was a bit disappointed with season 4 and started to see glimpses of the shock-value type stuff in season 5.

I love William H Macy in this role. What a hoot! Also a big fan of Lip's. I think each character is endearing, in their own sick, twisted little way.

Love/hate relationship with this show!
Its just so depressing at times to watch these characters self destruct - yet, like the pp - they each have sonething real and endearing about them.

I agree, Lip is one of my favorites on the show and I'm fearful that he has gotten himself into quite a mess. I love him with Amanda - she will probably be back next season and end up crazy psycho. The whole thing with the professor is so bizarre.

I agree - I would have thought they would be pulling Debs and Liam out of that household by now - especially with the attention brought on by Carl/Chucky. Chucky - hilarious. Love his character!

And I'm kind of done with Fiona and all of the men. I get it's to keep us watching and interested but it's a bit much.

Loved the doctor/Frank story line. We shall see if going through that with her and actually caring about her changes him at all. Doubt it. Haha.

I found Chuckie amusing until I realized just how much damage his mother has done to him, especially when I realized he was older than Carl. He breaks my heart now -- not to mention he's got a swastika scar in the middle of his forehead.

I liked Fiona until last season, but I was still rooting for her to come around to herself. Now I'm starting to loathe her. "Who's been doing the shopping?" !!!!! You've got kids, you're not actively drunk or high and don't have a diagnosed mental illness -- what's your excuse for parenting on the level of Frank and Monica?

Ironically Carl to a certain extent is turning out much healthier than I would have expected early on in the series. Debbie is another heartbreak for me. Such sweetness so trampled down by her parents and guardian.

I've been watching this show since it started and I'm finally at the point that I can't stand Fiona anymore. I liked her best with jimmy/Steve. This whole season has been about which guy will Fiona pick and blah blah. I loved the frank and Bianca storyline, but the season as a whole I was disappointed in. It was a very weak finale I thought and next season Id like to see Fiona just on her own, she's always had a man around.

Nobody missing Sheila? I love this show and think all the actors do a fantastic job. I think the most I wanted to shake Fiona was when she screwed up her gig at the paper cup company, et al.

I do miss the character but the story line with her and Frank was going nowhere so I see why they had to let her go.

I forgot about the paper cup company...she definitely "screwed" that one up.

I thought the first couple of seasons were very funny, if you are into highly irreverent comedy. Sheila’s campaign for the “r word” (metard, youtard, retard) was a very guilty LoL for me. IMHO, the show really started going downhill in seasons 4 and 5. A bunch of the storylines, like Ian’s mental illness, Lip’s struggles in college, Frank and they dying doctor, etc, just don’t bring the LoL’s like the older stuff did. And yes, Sheila was great. Joan Cusack is a wonderful comic actress

Love Joan Cusack, loved Sheila but kind of glad she's gone. I don't think there was a lot more room for the character and I didn't want them to destroy her. Saw an article from one of the creators or writers and he basically said they loved having her but the story was basically done.
