All this talk of snow, how about a snow race? Every year, Syracuse, Rochester and Buffalo have their own snow race--the winner receiving the coveted "Golden Snow Ball".

How about a DISBoard snow race?

You can usually get your seasonal totals at your local television channel's website. Here is where I will get my seasonal totals: http://www.wstm.com/Global/category.asp?C=9204&nav=2aKE

So, anyone in?

Syracuse, so far, has 11 inches.

Depends....Can I use the city I was born in instead of this darn city I live in now ;)

Sure! What city was that?

Personally, I think there won't be a big turn out for this race, 'cause I know y'all are afraid to take me on. :teeth:

I think you're going to need to get a few Canadian DISers to join you to make it fun. My dad's family is from Ogdensburg and I think there's usually still snow on the ground up there on Memorial Day;) so I know what you're talking about in Syracuse. We don't have anything here yet but it sure looks and feels like it's going to snow.

OOOOooo, Ogdensburg! Okay I stand corrected. Syracuse could be beat. ;)

My sister and her first husband, who was in a band, were up there for a gig. I believe it was the blizzard of '77. The whole band was stuck in a hotel room for five days playing rummy "5000" (and probably drinking a lot of rummy too). ;)

I'll join in but I'm fairly sure you're going to win. :(

zip code is 18335: marshalls creek PA
i don't know where to get totals though, can you get them from the weather channel?

tricia

I think many drinking games were invented during winters in upstate NY :p . I remember when my brothers and I were kids and complaining about having to walk to school in the snow here in NJ my dad would tell stories of having to walk 5 miles to school in snow up to his waist. The distance was a complete fabrication but the snow amount was pretty accurate

Sounds like my dads stories too. Of course that was uphill both ways, right???

I'm not finding snow totals for Denver anywhere and I know it's snowed this year.

Bichon Barb,

I'll play as long as you promise to win! So far no snow that has stuck to the ground in this part of NJ.

darn I guess I can't play:(

You got it, turns out though that the school was right behind my dad's house and rather than walk around the block to the front entrance his brothers and he cut a hole in their fence and took a short cut:p

Okay, I clicked on "Denver", then on "climatological summary". Looks like Denver has had 2.9 inches through November.

i went there but the closest is philly, and philly doesn't get nearly as much snow as marshalls creek :( I think we got an inch or two last night though, when i woke up it was melted. does that still count?

tricia.
