Does anyone use tip envelopes for TS meals?

We've got mousekeeping envelopes, but I was just wondering if anyone uses tip envelopes for TS meals? Would that make it easier? More confusing? How to handle this?

This is what I was thinking about doing for our trip in Sept. We've got the free dining booked, I figured i'd just look through the menus and estimate what the tip would be around and put them in envelopes.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is a tip envelope? Is it simply an envelope for tips? What are the advantages/disadvantages?

Yes, tip envelopes are envelopes for tips. I don't know that there is an advantage/disadvantage. I just thought it would be cute, if nothing else, to leave the tip in a nicely decorated envelope on the table. Just like mousekeeping envelopes for the rooms.

BTW, I found some cute designs that someone posted on the design page. They are adorable!!!

I am at WDW right now. I figured out all the costs of all of our meals, and then either put $10 or $15 (that was the 18% amount) in envelopes and labelled them by the name of the restaurant. I also kept some $5s in my wallet if the service was exceptional I would add a little more. It is working out very smoothly, and the tip money is set aside already, so it is convenient.

I figured the approximate cost of tips for TS meals and had one envelope with me that had ones, fives, and a few tens in it. Next time--fewer ones and more fives.

I didn't pre-make envelopes beccause 1---it is bulkier to carry (I don't leve any money in my room--even in the safe) 2---I wanted the flexibility to determine a tip based on service not a pre-set amount---although I did tip 20% everywhere--even at PSB where I had the worst server I can remember for quite awhile. I just couldn't leave less than my normal 20%. It didn't feel right to me. I tip at 20%. More if the service was exceptional. Didn't have any exceptional service at WDW though--pretty much "average" most of the time.

I have all my little envelopes from the Disney Store filled with Disney Dollars with up to 20% tip for each meal. I did like several other posters and figured the tip amount. I got the bills in denominations that would allow me to tip 15%, 18% or 20% and not worry about breaking a bill.
I start about 6 months in advance picking up a few Disney Dollars at a time. I don't just set aside regular cash because I know me, I would slip money here and there as needed. But you know what, the pizza delivery man won't take a Stitch $5 for that pizza delivery. I do this for more than tips. I have a list of things I know I need money for and I just pick that up here and there as the monthly budget allows. I probably have $600 sitting in my jewelry box ready to go in March.

I was a server here in Texas years ago. If you were paid with CC or Travelers Checks you would have an amount at the end of the night that was due to the restaurant and the balance was yours. So you would keep the appropriate amount of cash and turn in the CC slips and TC's to cover the amount due to the restaurant. The mgmt of the restaurant had cash on hand to even anything out if needed.

BUT I have read several Disney CM's say that they turn in ALL tips at the end of the night and they are given back on their next paycheck. This might not be correct and someone will correct me, I'm sure. But when we were there in March we were told it really is no problem to pay tips in Disney Dollars.

I do tip Mousekeeping in cash though.
