Does anyone use the grocery game list to save money on groceries?

Sometimes you will find tearpads or blinkie machines with coupons in the grocery stores.
Sometimes you can find some real beauties!
Right now there is a Kraft tearpad for $2/3(certain products) This coupon can give you some free/cheap goodies.
There is also one for 1/1 Kraft handisnacks.

You won't be able to use the grocery game with this kind of coupon, but you may find some of your own deals!

I don't think this has been mentioned before...SmartSource has a site with printable coupons (that seem to sometimes match the paper).

http://microsite.coupons.com/microsite/Sighub.asp?pid=10127&ZID=km15

Also, there are usually 2 companies that have 2 question surveys. If you complete them (maybe 10 seconds of time) the coupon value goes up. I did one for Typson and the coupon went from $.55 to $1.75, well worth my time.

My shopping experience today..not the greatest but Im pleased

Publix
$119.88 retail total
-$ 3.75 advantage buy savings
-$13.05 coupons
-$33.82 advertised specials savings
($50.62 total savings)
$69.26 paid = 42% savings

Winn Dixie
$176.93 retail total
-$59.26 reward card
-$ 2.62 coupons
($62.11 total savings)
$114.82 paid = 35% savings

Ok, I'm at week 6 or 7 (can't remember for sure) but today I noticed a drop in how much I spend at the store! At Publix I spent $57 and saved $42 ( I always have to stock up on chocolate milk on Sundays and that blows my curve!). I actually didn't get too excited with my Publix list this week but I kinda expected that looing at the sales flyer.) Ice Cream sandwiches were the penny item. Were all of the Publix employees at y'alls stores dressed up in western garb for the "Round up sale" ?
At Bi-Lo (which is not on the list but has good deals so I figure out my own list!)...
I was a Code 15!!!!!!!!

The cashier announced over the intercom...Code 15, need the manager to register 7. I asked, "What's a code 15?" and the answer was...too many coupons!!! They had a flyer I saw when I was walking in the door for free sandwich bread, cookie jar cookies, sandwich bags, frozen waffles and yougart! It was the store brand but so what. Free is free. And the best part was that the coupons don't expire until November 2!!! So, I grabbed quite a stack of those little suckers! I got $61 worth of groceries for $20! So that means I spent a total of $77 whereas I have been spending about $125 - $150 per week! I still need to go back because they only had one box left of Totinos pizza roles ($5 for 5 - less $.50/1 doubled) =free!) and I was there too late to get the rain check.
And for those who don't know Teri from the Grocery Game is going to be on the Today Show Tuesday morning. She takes a skeptical shopper with her and they get something like $231 worth of stuff for $56.
And I'm pretty sure the $10 for the field guild is a one time thing!

I think I'm getting the hang of it!

Cincinnati isn't part of the GG but I've been reading this thread and getting ALOT of help. Here's what I found this week-----

Meijer (which I have never shopped in the past)
5 for $8 on POST cereal--- Sunday coupon for $1 off 2
rebate for $5 off 5 boxes

total cost for 5 boxes of cereal=$2!!!! ( it would only be $1 if Icould find one more coupon)

Kroger ( which is my emergency only store)
Gillette products are 3 for 5$ I have a coupon for $3 off skincare product.
Total cost for 3 Gilette products $2!!

Luckily I have a ton of stores right near each other and it won't take much more in gas to get allthese deals--just a bit of time.

I also found some more on line coupon sites:
valpak.com
coolsavings.com
Cincinnati.com/coupons -- this one is from our local paper website and you can find many coupons from the sunday paper to print. Maybe your local paper does the same)

I know somebody already posted this but I thought I'd post it again since it's on tomorrow:

Guess what?

Teri is going to be on the Today Show this Tuesday morning!!!!!!

Here are the details -

NBC - THE TODAY SHOW ! ! !
THE TODAY SHOW FEATURES THE GROCERYGAME.COM ON AUGUST 16, TUESDAY MORNING. 7-10am
A skeptical shopper tries TheGroceryGame.com and ends up with $231 worth of groceries for only $56!
Watch the winning story!
So, for anybody that is considering grocery game or just interested, it might be cool to watch. Of course, that's the time of day I'm getting kids out the door for school but I'll try to keep it on in the background and hopefully catch it.

has anyone ever heard of coupon mom? looks interesting as well :flower:

Yes--mentioned much earlier.

Her list, if available on gg, is nearly identical. I like gg's layout better. It is listed in aproximate order of appearance in the store where couponmom is in alphabetical order. Also--she doesn't list original price--which I do like to see.

I'd have to look next week to see when it is available as well.

It is a good alternative for those who can't or don't wish to part with money for the grocery game.

Triples up to 0.50 at my non-GG store. Spent quite a bit of time again but look how I did!

Retail $106.06
Spent $27.04 (Once I get my $5 rebate for Nestle products)
Savings $79.02 (75%)

Let's hear it for triples! :cheer2:

Some highlights...

Betty Crocker brownies (-0.20)
Van Camp baked beans FREE
Hunts Snack Packs (4 puddings) 0.40
Right Bights snacks 0.50
Manwhich 0.43

Winn Dixie (GG store)

Retail $223.15
Spent $135.52
Savings $87.63 (39%)

Total savings between the two stores this week is 51%.

The last three weeks I've done GG my savings at my GG store has been 35%, 40%, 39%. I also buy quite a few items there that very seldom seem to go on sale like ww pasta and organic milk. But, my Winn-Dixie hasn't had any double or triple coupon sales yet which I hear they do from time to time. Regardless, I've been very happy so far!

I'm on my 4th week of the GG!! I'm loving it so far. The only down side is that I had to raise my food budget from 125.00 every two weeks to 150.00 every two weeks. I'm in stockpiling mode right now. The only grocery store on my list is HEB. What I do is go to our super walmart first and check the prices againt's Terry's list. I usually find three or four items that are cheaper than HEB! Like today on Terry's list there was the Gum toothbrush with a MGT counpon and I was going to get it for free. I check it at walmart and they had the toothbrush for .93 cents. I made .07 cents on this one. Ok I know it's not a lot but hey .07 cents is .07 centsl :rotfl2: !!

At Heb I spent

Shelf price: 114.07
Coupons :50.85
For a total of 63.22

I think that is a savings of 45% (please correct me if I'm wrong)

Hopefully after the 12 weeks are up I can start spending less on my food!! Oh and by the way I have like twelve boxes of cereal (can you say cereal junkie! :rotfl2: )

Sabrina

I am not an official member of the GG, yet. We have been travelling so much I haven't had time, but when school starts (8/29) I will be trying this full force. That said, I am doing my own regular couponing and etc.

This week at Giant
Shelf price 93.14
Savings 31.00
10 rebate catalina 10.00
Total savings 41.00
paid 53.60
savings 44%

I am going to try Aldi's today... Stay tuned.

I saw the Today's show this morning while getting my teeth cleaned. WOW! is all I can say.

I just don't get how it works.

First a huge THANK YOU - to the original poster - and to Lisa Loves Pooh - Cruisn family - Lbgraves - and all of you who have asked such great questions - posted such great info and kept this thread going. There is sometimes debate on this board about off topic savings subjects and whether they are appropriate - but good grief - never has a topic made such a huge impact on what we'll be able to do/spend on our December WDW trip (and all future trips to WDW and beyond). It has taken alot of thought and alot of reading but it is sure starting to pay off.

As I've been reading and researching I ran across 2 sites that I didn't bookmark and now would really like to find again. The first is a list of what type of products traditionally go on sale month by month. The second is suggestions for freezing foods - what can be frozen etc., Again a thousand thank yous!

This is the last week on my trial membership and I'm not continuing. I wish they'd add another grocery store to my area. The prices on the list have consistently been off for my store. It is frustrating. It isn't that the list shows less either, sometimes the items were less than Teri's list, lol.

Cruisinfamily, I have found that couponmom.com does include my store's brand on her list of sale items. I wish it were color-coordinated as gg is but I do like that the store's sales are at least included because there are certain things I just don't care enough about to buy name brand.

Today's gripe, lol. Has anyone seen the "take the 7-day Febreze challenge"? I really use it alot because of a dog and smelly diapers so I log onto the febrezecoupon.com advertised in the commercial and the dumb coupons are MAILED within 8-10 wks! How annoying is that? I wanted to just print them and run to Walmart tonight.

My store is running the catalina someone mentioned above - buy 5 Keebler, Kellogg's snacks (not cereal), or Sunshine and save an instant $10. I went thru my old coupons and found 2 coupons for Kellogg's rice krispie treats and poptarts so I'm going to pick those up tonight.

Coupon questions for the experts.

First WD has coupons in their flyer this week. 18oz Jif Peanut butter for $.68. It says: limit one certificate per family per item per order. Cannot be combined with any other reward certificates on the coupon. First question, can I use a manufactures coupon with this coupon? I think yes, since one is a store coupon and one is a manufacturer coupon. What do you guys think? Second question, the way I read it, the only way I could buy more than one Jif would be to do separate orders, right? I assume I can use all 6 coupons(for various other items) on the same order but just not more than one of the same item.

Second question for FL shoppers, our grocery stores accept each others coupons as a general rule. I have some "publix baby club" coupons one of which gives me free kotex products, do you think WD will accept this? They're having a thing going where if you spend $25 on Scott towel, Cottonelle, huggies mega wipes refills, depends, poise pads or kotex, you get a $5 coupon printed at checkout. Probably the catalina thing. You also get a $10 Upromise contribution if you buy 10 of these items with your Upromise registered rewards card. I don't really need $25 worth of these items or 10 of these items but I'd love to take advantage of them if I could get some good deals. Well, I'd love to use the free coupon but don't know if they'll take it.

Anyhow, please share your views on this stuff for me. I'm trying to become a coupon pro but I'm just not there quite yet!

the best explanation---it is like a stock broker on the stock market.....

they tell you when to buy and when to hold.

they do what they can to get you the rock bottom prices and tell you to buy the item at that time. Basically--when you should use a coupon to get the biggest bang for your 30 cents off.

I was skeptical--but it has been working.

Didn't see teh Today show--but do know the lady saved a killing. I do not foresee myself getting that lucky.

So far this month I have saved 39%.

She got like $240 worth of groceries for $59. BUT, the store they were at doubled all the coupons. No doubles to be had here in FL.

cruisnfamily--just call WD and ask.

I tried using a publix coupon at WD (not on purpose....it was in the stash and i didn't read it correctly) and my store would not accept it.

Here is where I first heard that WD even considers taking competitor's coupons.

Just tried to go do this but it wants the channel, date and time you saw the ad. Since I didn't see the commercial I don't know what to pick. Can you clue me in?

Thanks!

Really? both WD and Publix take each others for me all the time. I'm particularly pleased when WD takes the Publix $5 off a $30 purchase coupon.

I'll either call or just bring it along next time I shop. I'll let you guys know.
