Does anyone use the grocery game list to save money on groceries?

Most catalinas are the same no matter which store you shop at. Someone may post a deal they got at Kroger with them but you can also get it at Food Lion or Harris Teeter.

I also prefer GG to Couponmom. I have used Couponmom/cutouthunger for Kroger as it isn't listed for my area but I agree the GG format is easier to follow. I like that "The List" is basically in the outline of the store and I can follow The List down the isles whereas couponmom is alphabetized. Also, I've notice couponmom also lists sales that save you 15% and I think Teri would refer to that as a phantom sale. But it has been good to look at for stores that aren't otherwise listed. I'm also lucky to live very close to a Super Bi-Lo
(I think its the only one in S.C. and I don't think it is on anybody's list!) and they have great sales on a lot of different things. I'll get a flyer for Bi-Lo and Super Bi-Lo and the Super Bi-Lo has a lot of things much cheaper. They frequently have 12 packs of Cokes or Pepsis for $1.99 (a really good deal when I bought 4 and got a $10 rebate from Pepsi!!!) and a great selection of meats. I like their meat dept. better than Publix.

Question for the experts... how do you handle things when your store puts a little on the amount/number of coupons you can use? Do you make multiple trips into the same store?

I found out that our Dierbergs will double up to 40 cents, limit 3 like items, 15 total coupons.

Any suggestions? GG isn't in this area; neither is cutthehunger.com, so I am winging it!

Osco is the drugstore that is part of the Albertson's/Jewel/Savon family of stores. I am not sure if this works at all stores like Lbgraves said. So far, the only folks that have gotten these catalinas have been at the above listed stores.

deal #1- may end as early as 8/9, but is a goodie. Buy 6 proctor and gamble products and get a $7 catalina good off of school supplies. I have been buying herbal essence at 2/$4, and using a coupon for $3 off 2, so I get them for 50 cents each. I spend $3 total and get a $7 catalina. Some people have gotten them with little cans of iams cat/dog food or pringles. You can only get 1 at a time. School supplies can cover a wide variety of things if you have a nice cashier- paper towels, tissues, snacks, etc.

deal #2- certain oral b products are on sale for 2/$5. Some toothbrushes, toothpaste, those brush up things. Buy 2 for $5 and get a $5 catalina, so free. Supposedly you can do this in multiples- ex, buy 4 items, get $10 back.

deal #3- buy bandaids $1 or reach toothbrush $2 and get a catalina for 2 free song downloads. I had coupons to get the toothbrush for free and bandaids for .45 cents. Can also be done in multiples.

Yes, unfortunantly they have started doing this at HT. :( It is 3 like 20 total. Now, you can use more coupons if they are $1 or higher but I always make sure that they are at the bottom of the pile so that they don't count as part of the 20. The 3 like depends on the cashier to be honest...it isn't something the register will do so sometimes I can get more than the 3. ;) I do make multiple trips when there is something that I really want to stockpile.

If anybody had any luck with the P&G catelinas at anywhere other than Osco/Albertsons/Jewel let me know. Maybe I could make a trip today.

My Sav-a-Center had a catelina deal. Buy $20 in participating General Mills products and get $5 for your next purchase. They had a good sale on some GM cereals, Betty crocker cakes and frostings, Hamburger Helper, BC fruit snacks, Bugles, Chex Mix, etc. Along with double coupons it was a great deal, but when I went they were all out of Cheerios :-( It was only advertised at this store so I assumed you couldn't get this catelina at any other store.

Also, since I have this $5 catelina, will it only work at Sav-a-Center or could I use it at any store that uses catlinas, like Winn-Dixie?

You have to use the catalina or webbuck at the store where you got it.

I haven't been going to the store every week so I am behind on what is being offered now. I suppose that one store or chain could have their own catalina set up however, most of the deals were universal for stores that are signed up with Catalina Marketing. These were the offers that use to be listed on Valupage.com.

I just ran across the website that was put together by someone I use to be in a coupon club with. She taught me alot about couponing & her site puts everything in an organized form so it can help. It doesn't look like it has been updated in a while, but most of the core info will be the same now.

I used a WD catalina at Publix which doesn't even do catalinas. So, I'd check with the store. Don't know what a webbuck is.

The webbuck is what prints out of the catalina machine when you buy the number of items that the deal requires. It is the coupon that has "$1.50 off your next shopping order." (Or whatever amount it is.)

You are lucky if they let you use one at a different store.

Glad I found this thread! I just finished reading all 21 pages!! PHEW!!

I wanted to add a comment for the people looking for inexpensive spices. Check with your local health food store or specialty shop. They often have a section with bulk spices....you can purchase only a tablespoon if that's all you need! We have a great little shop in my town that is full of little bins with candy, jelly beans, pasta, dried beans, flour, cereals, nuts....you name it, they probably have it! You just take what you want and pay by the pound. They also have a large selection of organic items, specialty oils, etc.

Mine happened to be $1.00 off of some specific product(don't remember) not "off your next shopping order" so maybe that's why they took it. Publix and WD take each others coupons 'cause they want you to come to their store instead.

If their policy is that they take competitor's coupons that explains it. That would be wonderful!

Oh yeah, all the time. Your grocery stores don't take each others coupons? Wow, I thought everybody did.

But then again, my grocery stores don't double coupons. So I guess you win some, you lose some.

:) That's true! I guess that is one more thing we need to specify in our deals.

I have a question for the people who stockpile......do you have, say, 5 or 6 coupons for the same item handy, or do you regularly purchase coupons from websites like the coupon clipper, etc.?

Most coupon sites require a minimum of 5 of the same coupon to order them. Since we just don't get good coupons here, I get all of my multiples from services. I know what I am going to need in a month or so & keep a supply of those items in my binder so that I am ready for the next sale.

Lisa I was wondering if you could explain how you track when something on sale will cycle through again...do you use a notebook, excel etc...I figure it might be 2nd hand to you by now , but I am having a hard time spotting the trend at my market(Price Chopper...not in GG). Thanks Terri
