Does ANYONE still like WCC?

We're staying at VWL for our upcoming trip and I booked WCC for the day we're just hanging out at the resort. We ate there two years ago and enjoyed it (not great, but good) but all I see now are reports of rotten food and even worse service. I have teetered between keeping the WCC ADR since we're staying at VWL and cancelling it in favor of 'Ohana, which we have never tried. Is my allegiance to WCC because it's a WL restaurant a mistake? It just seems odd to stay there and not eat there at all. Plus, we're doing 'Ohana breakfast later in our stay. I kind of hate to backtrack!

I read the thread today on this board about WCC or 'Ohana and it seems overwhelmingly in favor of 'Ohana. My question is whether anyone still enjoys WCC. This doesn't seem to be a matter of personal taste anymore since it seems everyone hates it. Is it just all out bad now? Help! (I'm soooo co-dependant!!)

WCC is a favorite of ours and DH's top place.

It does seem to get a bad wrap here on the boards, but I take everything with a grain of salt. There are good and bad of everything if you are here long enough, so I say if you like something or want to try something don't be swayed.

We too use to love Ohana and have always done dinner there, and while they have wonderful food our experience there last time was a nightmare. Slow service and way to noisey to have a conversation.
Will it keep me from there, probably not, will depend on what I can get and what mood I am in.

I do highly recommend the food (if you like the sounds of the menu), it is the same for everyone. No choices.

But I think if you are staying at WL, WCC is a must.

We enjoyed it when we ate there and the service was great!

Some reviews give Ohana a bad rap too but we enjoyed that as well and thought the service was good.

Sometimes it really just depends on the day.

I would say that since you've already got the ADR, keep it. We ate there about a year and a half ago and had a great time. I don't know if it's changed a lot since then, but I find that unless I've personally had a bad experience, I want to try it for myself. Another example of a place that gets a bad rap here on the DIS is Sci-Fi Dine In at the DHS. We went there for lunch on our last trip and it ended up being one of our best meals. The food was very good and we had a fantastic server who went out of his way for us (on his own, we never asked for "extras!"), and overall it was just a very fun meal.

Have fun at WCC and enjoy your resort day!:thumbsup2

.

1st time there we had a blast!!!
2nd ,, ok but not as fun..

i think it will depend a lot on the server you get.. If they aren't outgoing and fun then you wont have as much fun..

dont have much to say on food as i dont eat meat but hubby liked it last time..

i will be making adr for sept!

Like so many people say.. Your tastes may be different from someone elses. If you tried it a few years ago and liked it, try it again. :) What one person hates another person loves!

I'm probably repeating what everyone else is saying but WCC is definitely good or bad based on a persons tastes.

The last time I ate there the food was pretty good and we had a great server. I could see how having a grouchy cast member could ruin the whole experience.

Over the course of all of our trips, I would venture to say we have eaten at Whispering Canyon a dozen or more times (breakfast and dinner).

We've never had a bad meal there. We love it. Of course, each time has been different. Sometimes our table has been the MAIN focus of our server's antics. Other times, we notice that he focuses more attention on another table. But we've never had bad service whatsoever.

And while the food is certainly not gourmet...It has always been good.

we ate there in December and we had a great time and thought the food was good too. If you are staying there I would keep the ressies and enjoy your meal

This is a VERY GOOD point! Thanks!! I absolutely love Sci-Fi and don't know why everyone runs it down so much. We go there almost every time and enjoy it immensely. We have never had a bad experience and think the food is really good.

This may have been enough to make me stay with WCC. I'm not expecting the best meal ever, but it's about the experience at the resort anyway. Thanks for the help!

We ate there in September 09 and although the food was okay the service was HORRIBLE. This is a case by case basis though so we will be eating there again when we go in December, I just hope the server is better.

This too is one of our favorite places to eat at. We have never really had a bad meal there. In fact that is where I picked to eat for my Birthday dinner in 3 weeks.
I have never understood why it always gets a bad rap. But people always differ in opinions.
We also love WCC. I would go there for the shrimp and milkshakes every trip. This is our first trip with out eating there and I am already going through withdrawls and I haven't even started the trip yet. :lmao:
I say keep the res. since you already have it. :thumbsup2

Wow huge assumption and completely wrong.
We love WCC.
It's one of if not our favorite place for breakfast.
We stop in every trip.

First, it's always easier to complain than compliment.

Second, The people who like to complain on the boards are a minority of guests.

Third, disboards has quite a few popular places with bad reviews.
(see, point #1,) example, they do not give a favorable review to LeCell, yet that is hugely popular.
Same with Ohana for that matter I believe.

Fourth, Do you agree with all movie critics? or Oscar picks as the best movie of the year? Probably not.

My advice, go to what sounds good to you.
Who cares what the results are on an online poll on a internet message board.

We ate there for the first time based on reading pretty good reviews here but also saw several bad ones. We looked at the menu and thought it sounded good and hoped for a server who would be fun.

When we arrived to check in we requested and got a table in the main room. Our server was good but certainly not outstanding. We enjoyed watching the antics at other tables and got a "little taste" of it ourselves. The food was good with there being enough different things for our picky eaters. One was ribs only, the other chicken only - it all worked out. Both DH and I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere and the kids loved the races.

We would go back again and hope for a little more interaction from the server. She was good and prompt with everything we requested, just not as fun as some of the others we saw around us.

We also ate at 'Ohana; again having read mixed reviews and we really enjoyed it also. Maybe we're not discerning enough. :lmao:

I'm sure you'll enjoy whichever you choose.

When is the best time to go, for breakfast, when the activity is at the highest?

Personally, we thought the food was disgusting (DH got sick on the chicken and/or ribs in the skillet) and we were there for over two hours and never even ordered dessert--so that tells you about our service. However, if you enjoyed it, then you should go. Everyone has different tastes, expectations, likes/dislikes.

I've enjoyed both meals I've had at WCC and have had wonderful service both times. If I'm staying at WL/VWL, it's a pretty good bet that I'll eat there. I've had miserable service at Narcoossee's, Flying Fish, & Brown Derby, but I won't mark them off my list of good places to eat. Any restaurant can have a bad night, or you can catch a bad server.
