Does ANYONE remember getting 'prom keys"?

Does anyone remember back in the 70'2 getting prom keys when they went to the prom. They usually were a necklace that sort of looked like a key, that included the school name and date? I mentioned to my ddd's older high school friend, and she had no idea what I was talking about.

We had class keys that looked like a key with the school colors and emblem on it along with your graduation year. I was in HS from 74 to 78.

We had "senior keys" that we got when we graduated, but not one for prom. I graduated in '75.

My dd just bought a senior key this past spring. But just like the one I bought when I was a senior, it looks nothing like a key and I always wondered why it was called a senior 'key'.

Me neither -- I graduated in 1970. Never heard of "prom keys".

Did not have any "prom keys" but did have a senior key. And it looks just like my mother's senior key who graduated 25 years before me (not same school/colors though). It is a gold keychain in the shape of a key. Attached to the round part at the top is a gold charm (strange shape, sort of like a coat of arms shape). On the front of the charm it has my school colors black on top and red on bottom. In the black section it says senior and in the red section it has my graduation year. In the middle is a small gold emblem with PB (the initials of my HS) on it. On the back of the gold charm, my initials are engraved on it.

I tried to search for these online from the company I know my school had bought them from (Josten's) but couldn't find them.

This site takes you to a picture of what the "charm" looks like. I think the "charm is what is really called the key. On mine though it came attacked to a "key-shaped" keychain. My "charm/key" did not look exactly like these but the shape is the same.

I graduated in 1970 & we got prom keys for the Junior prom. They looked more like an ankh than the pix on the site Disney845 posted. i.e. Instead of the main body being a "shield" ours was an oval. But then there was also a cross-piece under the oval. For our Senior prom we got mini class rings on a chain instead. (DD used to wear it with a poodle skirt for Sock Hop Day at the day care center. )
