Does anyone "prefer" garden wing to tower at CR?

Just curious...I heard great things about staying in the tower but since the wing rooms are cheaper I wanted to try those? Thanks all!

I'm curious about this too. I have one night booked in a wing room next month as a surprise, I wanted the tower but it was just too much $ this trip.

Hi,
we stayed in a garden wing room 2001 and loved it the rooms are large, one day we had our patio doors open and in wandered a couple of ducks which the children loved.

We were lucky and not too far from the lobby I know the walk from the furthest rooms can put people off.

Prior to purchasing a DVC membership, we always stayed in the garden wings and prefer them. They can be a distance from the main building, but they are definitely quieter and less hectic. The views are not as dramatic - no Castle views that I recall - but there are views of Bay Lake and some of the great topiaries and gardens. The wings are quite large - request a room closer to the main building if this is important to you.

Ditto on what has already been stated!

I like the garden wings (prefer the north) because it is closer to MK. I like the freedom of walking and prefer not to rely on transportation-MK is a short walk away. Also, I found that the garden wings weren't that far from the main bulding. Again, I do not mind the walk; if you have small children or prefer not to walk then you might think again about a garden wing room.

Count me in, especially if I get a first-floor Bay Lake view. We did last June, and it was the best room we ever had in WDW (and I've stayed everywhere). I loved enjoying my coffee on my patio watching the boat traffic on a foggy Bay Lake, or at night with my nightcap

personally taste - I enjoyed them - Mickey mouse in the elevators was nice!

the main one has Goofy.

but mother hated it.

the Cont is her favorite resort and she hated the wings.

I asked her why and she couldn't explain it - says 'it felt like being outside'

only want the tower from now on....

I loved our stay in the North Wing. We were on the bottom floor with a patio, which was nice and relaxing. We didn't have to mess with an elevator and were very close to the main building, especially to the door to the food court. It's just a few steps from the North Wing entrance. We also were closer to the MK walkway.

Well, since you asked....
IMHO the only reason to stay at the Contemporary is for the view from a tower room.

Do you know the room # or block that I could request? That sounds just what we are looking for. Thank you.

Just returned from a one night stay at the Contemp. Stayed in the South Garden Wing. I think the room # was 6209. It had a lake view and was a short walk to the pool. I would request a pool view in the South Tower, but on the bottom floor. There are no balconies on the upper floors. It was a very short walk to the main bldg and the food court and of course the pool. The rooms are huge and you can't beat the price for a monorail hotel!
