I have gotten so used to microwaving popcorn, that I almost forgot how simple it was to pop popcorn. One of my friends gave me a popcorn bowl, and different bags of popcorn. I looked at it like, "what do I do with this", and then I remembered back to the days before the microwave. It doesn't take any longer to pop it on the stove top.

We always pop on the stove top. It tastes so much better and is less expensive. It really doesn't take that much more time or effort either.

I pop regular popcorn in the microwave. It doesn't take long at all. I don't use any oil either.

we bought a bag over the holiday and used the stove popper (the kind with the handle you turn). We realized how much more we like it, so I am getting the Presto thingy for the microwave so we can do popcorn without oil.

:)

I did today! We have an air popper. We love it much better than microwave. I still like my microwave kettle corn though.:p

That's how we do it too but our micro popper is wearing out. Any clue where to buy a new one?

I love stove popped pop corn but don't want the extra oil and grease in my diet. Happy popping Dawn!

We've been using our Whirly-Pop for years. It works great and tastes great! We just loaded up on kernels the other day.

You are talking to the girl who's father use to buy popcorn in bulk - like 3 50lb bags at a time bulk. We lived on popcorn as a snack growing up. Standard joke growing up, was if our house ever caught on fire, the fireman would say leave the hoses, grab the butter, Hoover's house is on fire.

I never had microwave popcorn in the house until after I was married. The only time we have microwave popcorn in the house now, is if the kids get it trick or treating.

Dad gave me a popcorn pan as a wedding gift. All of our friends freak out when they find out that this pan NEVER get put in soap and water. The pan is very well seasoned. When ever we have company over, they always want me to make a batch of popcorn.

Grandma use to make the best popcorn. She would pop it in lard. Yummo!! It would give hers the best taste.

Also we don't do the yellow corn, only white. Yellow retains to much of the hull for our tastes. And for all that is holy, if you are going to pop our own corn, please buy pop corn salt. Table salt is to corse for pop corn, takes a whole lot more to cover a bowl.

Oh, and we pop corn in our house at least 4 times a week. And depending on the basketball and football games, I could end up make 2 or 3 batches on Saturday and Sundays.

Don't know where to buy a new one, but we never use a popcorn popper. Just put 1/3 cup of pop corn in a brown lunch bag and tape the top shut. Microwave until it stops popping, just like regular microwave popcorn. It makes a wonderful popcorn! If you spray it with pam and add some seasoning when its popped, its even better!

We've got a hot air popper that I like. I also pop it on the stove occasionally. I don't like the microwave stuff, which is full of junk and tastes funny.

I pop mine on the stove. A tablespoon or so of Olive Oil and I add kernals and cover on med-hi (and of course shake!)

My kids love it this way and I like knowing what's IN my popcorn. Have you read the ingredients on microwave popcorn? Ick!

Me, Me! I still pop popcorn. Microwave popcorn is considered an abomination at my house. I have an air popper or I pop it on the stove. Most of dd's friends have never seen this before and think I'm some kind of magician. :rotfl2: I like air popped so I don't feel guilty adding lots of butter.

I got mine on amazon.com for about $12.00. It just looks like a hard plastic bowl with a clear plastic lid, and vents on each side. It works great.

We make micro kettle corn. All other popcorn is done on the stove top and then topped with salt and real butter - yum, yum

I don't like air popped, the salt doesn't stick;)

We have a Whirly-Pop too. My dh and sons eat popcorn almost everyday and refuse microwave popcorn. We buy our popcorn at Sam's Club in a 50lb. bag!

I pop only white popcorn in my oil popper - using olive oil. Its delicioso!

I have never heard of popcorn salt. I know you say table salt is coarse - but is popcorn salt - truly only salt (no other chemical flavoring?)

I am trying to do low carbs - but this thread - may get me popping soon!!!

What about using a pinch of sea salt? It's courser and w/more flavor. I might have to try that next time...

I love the stove top popcorn:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes I got our first one at a white elephant auction and used it all the time and then it got dropped on the floor and broke.

It took us almost a year to find a new one....and I don't like it as well but it's still better than microwave.

We have to call dibs on the butter bowl. :rotfl2:

We have an air popper. I love it so much more than the microwave popcorn.
