Does anyone actually pay rack rates anymore? I see so many of you save a lot of money. What are some great ways to save money? I'm not in the AAA and I don't have an AP. Some great ways to save on the BWI would be a great help. Thanks.

:wave2: That would be me!!

But.....I am gonna change that...

This was before I joined these boards and learned how stupid I am!! I am a FL resident who is/was gonna pay $165 to stay at a Mod resort...not NO MORE!! '

I can get that same rate as a FL resident and stay at AKL....both places look beautiful...but I can't justify paying that much for a Mod when soooo many posters get that resort for wayyyyyy less!!!!!!

Oh cool. I wish I lived in Fl so I can get that discount. My friends and I are planning our first "w/o parents" trip because I'm turning 18 this May. And since we love going to boardwalks, the BWI was the resort everyone liked. But the S&D is also a choice.

I do, only because I'm afraid that Disney may run a special like the "free dinning" plan or reduce room rate later. I know if I book from Disney, they will fix whatever maybe wrong when I check in, their customer service is great. (I'm afraid of getting burned if I purchase from someone I don't know.)

Oh, I don't purchase thru anyone else...just Disney...but you can get codes that will give you a discount, even thru Disney...like room only rates and such...but I wouldn't book thru other sites either, for your fear!!

I only learned how to get the codes thru these boards!!

Thanks guys :wave2:

Look at www.mousesavers.com for discounts. Don't rule out buying an annual pass for your trip. The BRP can save you enough at a deluxe to pay for the pass and save some additional money. You will just have to crunch the numbers.

We paid rack for years. Ugh!! Actually, I talked to some folks at ASMu last week who paid $120/night for their room. I'm not clear whether they called Disney direct or used a travel agent, but all the on-line travel sites listed the values for $99!!!! No AP discounts were available, so we used our AAA. Not much of a savings but still something.

actually yes, we do, we go at peak time and don't trust AAA to do everything correctly. i wish we could get a discount, i appreciate the dollar as much as the next person! i keep watching the boards!

You can call CRO and get the AAA room only discount and don't even have to deal with AAA.

As for me, no I never did. I either had a Disney Club discount (which is no longer), AAA discount, or an AP discount.

Now I don't even have to worry about that anymore since I bought DVC :teeth:

We were gong to pay the $149 until the latest code came out. Then we switched from POR to Pop and saved $755!!

Holy Cow!!! That's great!! I just called and got a FL resident rate at POFQ!! I was originally paying $165 a nite....that's outrageous!! Now, we are staying there for 3 nites for only $381 total...and I've already paid almost $200 of it!!! :cool1:

It pays to keep calling!!

The only problem is...I was calling to switch to AKL....instead she told me the FL rate was available!!! I couldn't refuse!!

I have a trip scheduled for March 18-25 at POFQ that is a package through Disney Travel. I am hoping that I can get a code or someway to reduce the price. I've never done that but after reading this site I'm sure I'm paying more then I need to be!! It would be great if we could go to Disney more because we figured out a way to pay less!!! :earboy2:

Isn't the only way to get the Dining plan to pay for rack rate ... ya know, a package?
Tell me if I am wrong please

For the fist time I am paying rack rate, we want to stay at the Beach Club for our upcoming trip, and everything was booked, we finally got a room but at rack rate, so as much as it is really painful, yes we are paing full price.....

Disney's rack rate is $99 for a standard room in regular season, plus tax is $110, if they had a preferred room, price is $111 plus tax, or $123....so they may have had a preferred room?

AAA would have lowered these by about 15%....

If discounts are available for our trip dates, we certainly aren't averse to making use of them. But if not, we pay going rate. We don't plan our trips around codes, so if they're available when we want to go, great! If not, we might have to pay a little more, but we're still going to WDW!

After years of getting great rates. We just returned from a rack rate vacation (ouch) at the Poly.

Did it cost more then I wanted it to, You Bet!

Was it wonderful, after all my complaining yes it was wonderful. Any regrets, No!

Hoping for a great rate next time.

Hi :wave2:

I just found out, that as a FL resident, we can spend 3 nites at the Poly for a bit over $900...it's a garden view...we have never been there...

We are scheduled for the Ohana breakfast to celebrate our son's 7th birthday...so my question is....

Does this sound like a good deal? I don't know what regular rates are...and it's hard to imagine spending more on 3 nites than our mortgage payment....plus living only an hour away!!

But...it sounds like such a wonderful magical resort!!!!

Cambra ... Yesterday you were obsessing about which view to get at AKL. This was after obsessing about whether to stay at POFQ or pay more and stay at AKL. So your family took a vote and decided to pay the extra and stay at AKL. Now you're looking at the Poly ... apparently the money issue went right out the window! Whatever, hope you make up your mind and are happy with whatever you choose (maybe GF is next?). lol, just kidding!

YIKES! I must have hit a nerve with you! If you don't like my "obsessing"..then, don't read my posts!!

These boards are for opinions and advice on all resorts...I didn't realize I was only limited to only one!

Seems you are the one obsessing by following me around on my posts...if you feel the need to read them, then I would have hoped you would have had something nice or HELPFUL to say!

Now, go follow someone else around and share your insightful thoughts elsewhere!
