Does anyone NOT care for MK?

MK is 4th in my book, our book, actually. This doesn't amount to dislike, it's just that when ranking any 4 items, something's going to be 4th. Actually, I consider MK to be 5th as I count Epcot to be 2 separate parks, WS and FW. I suppose this is why we much prefer to stay in an Epcot resort as then we can walk to 3 of 5 WDW parks, FW, WS and MGM.

This is our feeling exactly. Not that we don't like the MK, but on our 9 night trip in less than 2 weeks we're going to MK once. And it's not really a full day. Epcot 3 times, MGM 2 times and AK once or twice.

I knew there was a reason we got along so well when we got together in March!

I did not have the benefit of going to WDW as a child. As a teenager, I did get to visit Disneyland but didn't make WDW until I was in college. At that time there was no AK or MGM.

I LOVE MK. My DH and I both agree that, while it does seem dated and actually doesn't have that many rides, somehow MK does the best job of expressing what is quintessentially Disney.

We especially enjoy MK because we have young children but I would want to visit the MK even without the girls. We always make our last day the time to "do your favorite thing one more time" ... and we always end up at MK.

My husband had a HORRIBLE experience as a teenager at Epcot right after it opened. He basically refused to go there on our early trips as a family. Finally, I convinced him a lot had changed and that we needed to take the girls on our last trip. We probably went to Epcot as MANY times as we went to MK on our last trip but total time spent in MK was probably slightly higher.

I have to confess, Epcot is now probably my favorite park now. However, I will always LOVE MK in a special way .... and that's coming from someone who never went there until I was an adult AND who went to Disneyland first.

Crowding has never colored my view of the parks since we always try to go during non-peak times.

DS14 does not like MK except for Crystal Palace and a very limited number of attractions. I think the place gives him hives

MK is my favorite hands down. For me, I never truly feel that I am at Disney until I go to the Magic Kingdom. I love this park so much. I cannot wait until Sunday night...I will be kicking off my trip with an EMH night at MK! This trip, we are spending 3 days at MK,2 1/2 days at Epcot, 2 days at AK, and 1 day at MGM. This is how we rank the parks:
1. MK
2.AK/Epcot(tied)
last:MGM

In short I'm saying it's IMPOSSIBLE!

Yes, there is more to Disney than the MK, but it's the heart of the whole Disney experience.

Now with that said, it is possible for people who are not truly "Disney" fans, but rather vacation fans, theme park fans, Family getaway fans, to like WDW, and say that they could live without the Mk, because their not truly fans of the Disney experience, but just the atmosphere of a vacation.

But to say I love Disney but not the Mk!

It's like Scientifically impossible.

MK is our least favorite.
We prefer MGM and Epcot for their wonderful and fun foods (Le Cellier and 50's PT are our favorite WDW restaurants) and the thrill rides. AK comes in third for us (the safari is just too original).
MK is magical alright and it will easily be my kids' favorites, but DH and I could get through it in half a day easy without them. Sorry. But we still LOVE Disney as a whole and you can't take that away from us!

Once I get past the utter blasphemy of this thread title, I can concentrate on a true answer.

Actually, I can see where someone may be a WDW nut and not be enthralled with MK. WDW offers something for lots of varying tastes. That's one thing that makes it so great. As for me (41yo husband of one and father of two), I'd rather be at MK than just about anywhere on earth. In fact, I could imagine going on a trip and doing nothing but MK. But never doing a vaction without it.

Interesting. I visited DL for the first time in 2005, and thought it was a good park, lots of great "bonuses" that the Florida park doesn't have, such as a much better POC and HM and the cutesy Alice & Wonderland, Matterhorn and Indiana Jones.

But even after all that, I just couldn't get over the rude guests. These people were totally out of control. Dropping trash all over the place, on the ground, in bushes, anywhere they could. There were teenagers in packs acting as if they owned the place. It was just sad. I've experienced some rude people at WDW, but nothing like those at DL. Bummed me out.

Unfortunately, I think that both parks suffer from people who think they own the place. I've experienced obnoxious behavior at both DL and WDW. Too bad Disney can't figure out a way to get them to fly right the first time they act up.

ITA. I felt so bad for the CMs at DL trying to keep up with the trash being thrown around. One poor CM at the HM was snaking in and out of the line picking up garbage, and as quickly as she got it, someone else threw something down. I saw her roll her eyes a couple times, but being the trooper that she was, she kept on going.

As for the MK at WDW - it isn't all smiles and giggles either. We once witnessed a woman slap a teenage girl who accidently stood on her son's hand as he sat on the curb. THAT was pretty un-magical.

I agree 110%. MommiePoppins, don't worry at all. Remember the negative is always highlighted over the postive even if it's a fraction of the postive. We've had nothing but good experiences at WDW. I think you'll find that is 99.9 percent of the cases. Have a wonderful time.

Let me first say I love all the parks -now this-when just my mom and myself went, we spent less time at MK than any other park. However, since we live close to DL, and get to ride those rides quite often, MK is probably the most like DL while Epcot, MGM, and AK are so different even though some of DL rides are at Epcot and MGM.

Now, since I have my DD6, we spend more time at MK. But I think we still spend the most time at Epcot. One reason is since we go off-peak times, and most of the parks close early, Epcot is open later. This trip, it looks like MK is open til 8 or 9 most nights so we will definitely be going (inc. MNSSHP on 9/15) I just love WISHES! I'm a sucker for fireworks.

It's interesting to hear everyone's opinions on this, particularly from those who have gone to Disneyland most of their lives like me. We're doing our first trip to WDW this summer, so we'll have to wait and see how we'll rank the parks, but my guess is that MK may not turn out to be our #1 (especially for my DH who is a CM at Disneyland and sees that side of Disney 5-6 times a week). We are really looking forward more to seeing new things Disney, but are all (DH included) also interested to see the differences between DL and MK. We do love DL, though, so I can't see how there'd be any way we would NOT like MK at all!

For my family it's all about the Water Parks! We are from the rainy cold Northwest (home of absolutely no large indoor water parks!) and can hardly wait to get to Florida for spring break.

We all LIKE the theme parks, MK included, but we LOVE Blizzard Beach & Typhoon Lagoon. My kids asked that next year we do maybe 1 day at MK or Epcot and all the rest at waterparks!

DH & I agree with them: here's our choice -- stand in hot, long lines at the theme parks, feel like we have walked about 100 miles a day or:

Go to the waterparks, stay cool & wet all day long, enjoy waterslides that are every bit as exhilarating and exciting as rollercoasters, enjoy about 4 hours of virtually no lines on the rides (from opening 9am-1pm). Then float around in the lazy river & rest when it starts getting a little crowded.
