Does anyone like the San Angel Inn???

We love San Angel, the Ceviche appetizer is THE BEST!! Love the atmosphere, and we have always had a great time.

Im glad someone asked this ?, I too have been wondering cause unlike most Im not a big Tex-Mex fan after living in Mexico for 6 months! Man we have no idea what real mexican food is, im glad I kept my ressie then!

We liked it very much when we went last year. I almost cancelled our ADR a couple of times based on the poor reviews here. But DH and DS wanted to eat here. We were pleasantly surprised.
The atmosphere is wonderful, the service was perfect, attentive without being hovering and the food was very good. I did not feel it was too dark nor did I feel too crowded.
We will go again.

The food isn't too bad (we only ever order the Queso Fundido and the Nachos) and the service is bad-to-moderate.

But we keep coming back because we love the atmosphere! It's a great place to enjoy a meal, especially on a hot day. If you can get a table on the river, it's even better.

Don't go there thinking you'll be eating LeCellier-quality food, just enjoy the ambiance.

We ate here in May and I have to say, after a couple of their maragritas, we thought the food was very good....though I don't remember what we ate, but the maragritas were mighty good. :drinking1

We plan to visit them again in October, but this time for lunch, dinner was a little busy for us.

I give it a big fat :thumbsup2

I love the place. The Mahi Mahi and the tortilla soup are FANTASTIC!!

We always LOVED it until our last visit there in Oct 07. I don't know if it was an off-day, but no sides (beans, rice, sauces) where included with the meal a they always were before. Our meals came out looking like something off a kid's menu. :confused3 The food wasn't good that time either.

We haven't been back, but we'll try it again in the future because I LOVE the ambiance in the place. :goodvibes

We ate there in March of 2008 for lunch and really loved it. The atmosphere is great. The food was very good, and we had great service. I would do it again.

We tried San Angel 2 years ago and we didn't like it :sad2:. The atmosphere is pretty cool but we didn't care for the food. With that said, you really won't know how you will like it until you try it for yourself, as everybody is different. I say give it try....you may not like it, but then again you may love it ;).

The food and atmosphere are very good. As others has posted it's not the typical Tex-Mex food that we're used to in the states.

Some restaurants you patronize because of the food. Some you patronize because of the atmosphere. This is the latter.

The food is average to good. I've never disliked my meal but I've never been WOWED by it either.

The setting, however...so fun! It's romantic and festive. Kids will love it. I dine there every time I go to WDW!

Already have my ADR for September....:cool1:

Authentic, yes, but that doesn't make it good. My grandmother is Mexican and I do not do tex-mex at all. I've been there twice. The first time was barely OK. The second was not even edible.

We loved it, the service, food, atmosphere all good. :cool1:

After our first bad experience with dried out rice and beef and never getting a refill on our beverages (both times were OOP too), we put it down to a "bad day". Tried it a few years later with the same thing but with an added bonus: the worst server in the entire restaurant (rude and snippy) and cold, dried out rice, chicken and beef! Never again for us, we may try the CS there fr our upcoming trip

Meh, it's okay. You can get pretty much the same thing for half the price at the CS right outside.

I really like the San Angel Inn. I think it is a super romantic restaurant, and while the food is not the best I've ever eaten, it certain was good. I think you'll find mixed reviews for nearly all Disney restuarants, give it a shot and come back and tell us what you think! :goodvibes

Thanks everyone for your honest opinions. You've bolstered my willingness to try it. We will be going for lunch and I promise to give a review and maybe even some pics when we return in Sept.

Well I learned how to make it and I spice it up a bit different than my MIL who taught me, cause hers is YUCK!lol So I tweak it a bit, but hopefully we will enjoy it.
