Does anyone like the San Angel Inn???

please tell me someone out there in the great land of DIS likes this place. We booked lunch ressies there after reading in the unoff. guide that it is a great place for preschoolers due to the atmosphere. Someone, anyone, have a positive review to make me feel better??????

WE ate there is April of '06 and I loved it! The atmosphere is beautiful. The food wasn't the best i have had, but it was good. I think you will love it! Another plus is that while waiting for a table (or even waiting for the food to arrive after ordering) you can take the kids on Gran Fiesta TOur so they don't have to sit and do nothing. I took my son (then 3) on the ride 4 times while waiting for our food to get there. It was nice!

The atmosphere is really fun, especially if you do the boat ride before eating. We were seated right by the kitchen, so the waiters kept chatting around our table. However, our waiter was fantastic. The food was ok, not my favorite, but enjoyable enough. Try it and see...I think all the restaurants can be hit or miss.

Also, the tables are jammed in so close we felt like sardines. But, that's a problem with all of the World Showcase restaurants these days.

I really enjoy eating at San Angel! The atmosphere is lovely. I found the food to always be tasty but then again I am a vegetarian and can really only eat two items. When my boyfriend and I went a few years ago, he really enjoyed his dish and felt that our entire experience (atmosphere, very friendly service, quality of food) tied with our experience at the California Grill. I say give it a try for yourself. My only suggestion would be to try to get there soon after they open at 11 am for an early lunch. Everything always seems to be better and smoother than during peak dining hours.

Exactly, I think that's why it gets such a bad rep, it's not the tex-mex people are used to

We went in 05 and LOVED it, I wanted to go back in 07 but couldn't fit it in.

If you think Taco Bell/Chili's/Chipotle's and the like is Mexican food, you'll be surprised at the menu offerings. It's not the best authentic Mexican, but when combined with the restaurant atmosphere, it can make for an enjoyable experience. Though I have to admit, they weren't squishing the tables in as closely the last time I was there (8 years ago!) - so that may take away from things. I don't like rubbing elbows when the diners one table over.

This year 2008, we had one last night and that was only ADP left so we figured 8 years later, give it a shot.

Now we are disney nuts and have never had something so bad as this meal. The server was flat out rude and mean. The food was really, really bad. Dried out meat, crust on top of the bean, etc etc. When we complained and asked for a new meal the server said NO!

We got a manager and they said we can give you a free round of drinks! Umm what about our meal. We up and left.

We did get credit back from the FOM at PoP at least.

We also liked it very much last year. I didn't know about the bad reviews until we got back from our trip. I admit I probably wouldn't have gone had I read them.

The atmosphere was really cool, the kids loved the volcano and we really enjoyed the food. It's not Taco Bell for sure!

We like it..It is not Tex-Mex and is more like the mexican food we got in San Diego.. I wouldn't order anything with chips though. They are bland chips from a bag..The carne asada is good as is the appetizer soup

I love this place for dinner. Good food. Great drinks. Nice atmosphere. If I could have dinner anywhere in the World, I would choose the San Angell Inn. Enjoy!!

We've eaten at San Angel Inn a few times, and we've always enjoyed our meal. (The last time we ate here was July, 2007) The food was pretty good, and the atmosphere was great! Our server was very nice and attentive.
