I made an ADR for the H&V Fantasmic dinner package because dh does not like italian food and we did not want to use 2 TS credits for brown derby. I keep seeing that it gets pretty bad reviews. Is there anyone that like this restaurant? Please make me feel better about about my choice

We enjoyed this restaurant when we went. But for our day at DHS this time, we are going to 50's Prime. ;)

We had the same concerns for our Feb. trip. Based on all of the bad reviews, I considered cancelling our H&V ADR many times. In the end, it wasn't bad. The food was ok (nothing great), but we had great service. If you want to do the Fantasmic dinner package, it a an ok choice. I haven't read great things about Mama Melrose's either.

When we go back in September and November, we are going to skip the dinner package and try Sci Fi and 50s PT.

Our last trip in January we did it for the character breakfast and for the fantasmic dinner package and enjoyed it both times. The food is good, nothing to write home about but there are plenty of options for everyone.

I agree.....not as bad as you read....but nothing to write home about....
although they did have this chicken with some wine sauce on it....yum...

We went for our first time last year for the Character meal....we actually enjoyed the meal. It wasn't the best, I'd consider it average, but it wasn't as bad as some people say.

You've made a good choice. I wouldn't spend 2TS for the Fantasmic package and Mama Melrose seemed too limited for our taste. H&V was just fine. Not sure if there are little ones in your party, but our 6yo was VERY entertained by the kids activity sheet there; more so than any other place. There are a couple of memorable dishes: the salmon was very good and we made orange floats with the soft serve and orange soda our server brought. I too thought we had very good service. If we did FP again I'd have no qualms about going back.

Thanks everyone. I feel better now. I'm not too concerned about the food being the best, I just want to make sure we enjoy our dinner. The kids (10,7,4) won't really care about the food as much as the atmosphere and Fantasmic so I think we will have a great time there. This is our first trip so I wanted to make it special for my kids, thats why I wanted to do the package. My choice was Sci-Fi so I guess if we do a second trip we will go there for dinner.

Definitely do Fantasmic, but be aware you may need to hold the 4yo. My nephew (5, close to 6 at the time) was scared and very assertively requested that "hold" him as he sat on my lap. He loved the show but was definitely scared at times.

We love H&V, it is one we always go to, but more because they don't have much of an "atsmophere"......I really like more quiet when eating (Hate WCC, 50's diner etc). It has good service and food, and tends to be more of a low key experience. To put it in perspective my other faves are Boma and Cape May buffet.

We ate here last year and it was terrible. The worst buffet at WDW. I'll take Boma anyday over H&V.

Best part about Dis boards, the opinions.

Althought H&V was nothing to write home about (average), wife and I tried Boma 2 years ago, and we swore that this was the only restaurant we would never visit again. The food was just plain disgusting. Service stunk, and we left half our food still on our plate. So opinions are good :)

My family enjoyed H&V. Yes, it's loud and chaotic, but the food was pretty good. DH and DS13 each ate their weight in mussels and shrimp. The salads were all good and fresh. The cornbread is fantastic. The nice thing about a buffet is if you don't particularly like a dish, you can easily get something else to eat.

H&V is the only restaurant we've vowed to NEVER return to. :scared1: The food was just horrible. It all tasted quite bland, was not warm and just not appealing. The kids section was even worse! The only good part was the dessert bar.

Favorite but not as bad as we thought after reading reviews of it.Had a decent meal.:goodvibes :goodvibes Danny
