Does anyone know what the crowds are like Jan 1st through the 7th. Thinking about giving the kids a Disney trip for their Christmas gift this year. We have been the week of Christmas, leaving New Years Day but wasn't sure what it would be like right after New Years. If it is the same crowd as the week of Christmas forget it. Can anyone help me with this?

Hi,

It's still packed, at least it would be for the first few days of your trip. It should start to thin out by the end.

Alot of guests are still there for New Years, but slowly leaving.Arrive on the 5th or 6th and the crowds should be gone.I'm not aware of when the Christmas decor comes down.:confused3

That week is really hit-or-miss. It traditionally was pretty empty, especially by the 3rd. But, it is a bit more random now.

Having said that, if you are used the the Holiday Week crowds, they will be noticeably lighter. Also, the hotels should cut their rates back down then. I think it's a good time to go.

We have been to WDW 3 times during this timeframe. Eventhough it is still busy, CM's have all said that it is nothing like the week between Xmas and NYE. If you get up early and get going first thing in the morning, you should have no problems. We managed on our first trip to go on every ride we wanted during our 8 day stay. Our second trip we went the first 2 weeks in January. Could see a huge dropoff in attendance the second week over the first. After the first week, it seemed as if the parks were deserted. We also try to hit parks on the day after they have EMH. It seems that that park is just a little quieter. We were there the first week of January this year. Arrived on NYE, but didn't even attempt to go to any parks that day. Had lunch and dinner reservations at resorts, did a little resort hopping, checked in, etc. Only place that I felt that it was really crowded was at DAK. Since the arrival of EE, I think that DAK is now alot more crowded. We were there at opening and the sea of humanity all running to that ride was unreal. By the time we got to EE, we had to wait in a line about 20 minutes just to get up front for FP's. Other parks were not as crowded. WS was practically empty most days. It's a great time to go to WDW. We have had incredible weather ( while the weather in CA was awful). The kids are on school break until the third week in January, so this has been a perfect time for us to travel.
