We booked our trip almost 2 years ago for May 10th western
we had a room assigned 6572 cat 6
now we are at our 60 day mark and I just booked excursions and
it says stateroom GTY
I am not happy!!!!!
I asked the excursion people but the told me to call my TA.( Iam waiting for a call back)
all of my paperwork thus far has had my stateroom number
the only good thing that could come out of this would be an upgrade!!!!!!!

That IS very strange and it's very unusual that you would go from an assigned stateroom to GTY status. Let us know what your TA finds out!

Did you book a Cat 6 room?

6572 is a connecting room (with 6574). Maybe they needed another set of connecting rooms.

What does GTY stand for?

GTY stands for "Guarantee", which means you are guaranteed a cabin in that category, but it has not yet been assigned.

If DCL were to change our currently assigned cabin for our 4/04 cruise, I would most likely cancel. We selected the cabin for a specific reason (quiet) and will not be happy with any other location.... probably not even a Cat 1, since they are both nearly under the stage at the Goofy pool.

Guaranty-

When you are booked in this category, You will be assigned to a room at least in the category you paid for.

This could be a good thing if you are hoping for an upgrade, but not so good if you'd like a particular location on the ship. Then you ar better off making your desires known at the time you book your trip.

GTY = guarantee status. It means that you are guaranteed a cabin in the category (or possibly higher) but no stateroom is assigned at that time. Assignment usually comes with the documents or you may be told at the port. You can get this status at the time of booking but it is very unusual for anyone with an assigned stateroom to be switched to GTY.

Stateroom 6572 only has three berths. How many are in your party?

we were in 6572 until I added my sons friend
I asked specificaly if it could handle the 4th person because we were in this room on the wonder in 2001 and didn't notice the bed in the wall/ceiling
AAA said she checked and it did hold 4.
so now the woman at AAA is not in so I called DCL line my self and they said there were only 6 rooms left in cat 6 for our May 10th cruise and that they would assign them as we get closer.
that there is a chance we may get upgraded.
The thing is, she said we are linked with the inlaws that are in 6568 and she said they will most likely keep us somewhat close.
I wish I had known 6568 does hold 4 people.
we could have switched
we love the side and the midship location of 6572 it is perfect!
I guess I have to wait now until AAA calls me in the AM and see if We can get our room back
send me some pixie dust!!!!!!
