Does anyone know where West Palm is

compared to where Charley is going? We've got a lot of friends there, both my mom's friends and my friends. I had thought it was really far south, but now I'm not as sure. Is anyone familiar with the area?

West Palm Beach is in S. FL (east coast) about 2.5 hours South of Orlando. We are about 30 minutes from W. Palm and have been experiencing strong winds, no rain though. They should be ok where they are.

Strong winds as far south as So Miami Dade County but no rain right now. Agree with Rita. They should be fine where they are.

Talked to my dad this morning, they live in Lake Worth, just south of WPB in Palm Beach county. He said it was beautiful. The storm should track well north of them, pulling any clouds with it. If you look at a Florida map, West Palm is south of Lake Okeechobee which is the big hole in the middle of Florida. That should give you a good idea.

Our best friends just moved to Lake Worth a few months ago! Small world.

FYI -- West Palm Beach is almost directly across the state from Ft. Myers. Charley hit on the West Coast and then went across the state and is now headed toward the East Coast. However, it is now veering north of the area of WPB.

yeah they are fine - mother lives in Boynton - very close to west palm - the area is fine

Just saw on the Weather Channel that it's coming into the Jacksonville area and the winds are down to 84 miles per hour. .

Jacksonville is in the Northwest corner of the state near the Georgia border. . . well away from West Palm. .

Thanks everyone. I know little about Florida except for the area around WDW, which is why none of us knew where West Palm was. Glad to hear that that area was ok.
