Does anyone know where a Canadian can get Disney Dollars WITHOUT spending an arm ...

...and a leg for them?

I've tried ebay repeatedly, but honestly, even though they're supposedly collector's items, I refuse to pay a 300% markup so I can give my kids Dis $$ from the Tooth Fairy etc, kwim? Or shipping costs of $30+ for some bills in an envelope.:headache:

What I'd like, ideally, is to find a new friend living near the parks, paypal them some money, with which they buy Disney Dollars, pay for their gas and postage (ie $10-15 for $40-50 of bills), and receive them without being screwed....obviously there's some trust factors there, but mostly on my end....and I'd hope to see a high post count, or an ebay feedback number or something first....:confused3

I live in the middle of nowhere, the nearest Disney store is in Toronto, over 3 hours away, and I don't even know if they carry Disney Dollars....

Am I dreaming? Or is there hope???

I believe they discontinued Disney Dollars. You can use what you have but can't get more. I thought that occurred last year? I might be mistaken though.

Why don't you make your own, give those to your kiddos, and then set aside that amount of money in an envelope/jar? Then when you get to the parks, you can "trade" them in for real Disney Dollars with the money that you've set aside.

This is a wonderful idea. Or, before you go, have them "deposit" their money into a bank and get a "Disney debit card" (gift card). Not sure about the kids' ages, but it could be a worthwhile teaching experience. :thumbsup2

I think you can order them form Disney direct however; they are no longer at the stores. I could be wrong on this.....

My understanding is these can still be purchased in the parks at least.

Where-abouts do you live? I'm in Clarington (east of Oshawa, about 45 minutes east of Toronto).

We'll be arriving in WDW on Sept 14th, coming back the 24th. Perhaps I can pick you up some.

I bought them in March at Downtown Disney. I believe you can also buy them at Guest Services in the parks.

I think the Disney Stores stopped carrying them.

Oh! That's so kind of you to offer! I'm so sorry I didn't respond in time! For some reason, I didn't get notified of more answers on the thread!

I think I'll just take their cash, change it over, then get them a gift card? They still believe in the Tooth Fairy etc, and have gotten real Dis $$ before, so they'd know the difference, I'm afraid, if I made my own....unless I did special "official" Tooth Fairy or Santa gift certificates? THAT might work!

I really appreciate everyone's responses and suggestions! Thanks!!!:thumbsup2

I just did a quick google image search for "disney dollar", and it came up with quite a few images. If you have a color printer, I bet you could make some counterfeit Disney money and fool your kids. Some of the images are low-resolution, but I did see some larger versions. Or, somebody on here might be nice enough to scan their money for you.

Of course, you'd still have to exchange, but they might like having the "Mickey" money instead of something themed towards santa or the tooth fairy. Or maybe not...you know your kiddos!

I did this for Christmas etc before our last trip, and they LOVED it! It helped build anticipation, and bridge the time gap before the trip!

I think I may go the "Gift certificate" route...then they have nothing to compare it to, kwim?? The gift certificate is turned in for a g/c of the accumulated amount when we get there.....
