Does anyone know what cropping items they let you bring on the plane (if any)?

Hi, I've loved reading all the posts. I've been scrapping for just over 2 years. It's nice to read about what other people use and be able to get new ideas. I haven't seen a post concerning my question. Can someone help me? I thought that if I could do some scrapbooking on the plane, and during down times,it would help pass the time. Does anyone know if they let you bring cropping tools on board? Thank you for your help!! :teacher:

hi that's a good question! I just looked on the TSA site:

http://www.tsa.gov/public/display?theme=1

Looks like blunt end scissors (kid kind) are allowed - I would venture to say paper cutters - ie fiskars are not allowed...not sure on that though ~ what else you are wondering about...? just ask away & someone will know :flower:

Probably best if you already have the items trimmed & you can use your adhesive to mount them all during the trip.

If you do bring children's blunt tipped scissors, take them out when you get to the xray machine and hand them to the attendant. We brought those for my DD on our last trip, to help her do her homework, and it caused a big ruckus at the x-ray machine, until they finally opened the bag and took EVERYTHING out and figured out what it was. They okayed them (did not confiscate), but advised us to have them out and ready to show the next time. However, I decided to avoid the problem and just put them in the checked luggage for the way home!! HTH..............P

When we went to California this past Christmas, I shipped some things out ahead of time along with gifts. The items like scissors, paper cutter, etc. (as well as all the other odd things that TSA loves to check) were all packed together in one smallish checked suitcase. When we checked in, I advised them that all of the books, sharps, electronic cords, etc were in one bag. They seemed to appreciate that - especially at the small regional airport we flew out of.

On board it is pretty limited - also the work room isn't that big. So I'd keep things small and without any cropping tools.
