we have reservation for the luau and the hoop de do. Are reservations are for section 2 but we are wanting to change the dates around and all we can get is section 3. Is there a big difference or should we stay were we are at?

We leave for wALT Disney World Aug 30 and return home Sep. 10:dance3: :cool1:

Here is a .pdf file that shows where each category of seating is:

http://adisneyworld.disney.go.com/m.../dining/hoopdeedoo/HoopDeeDooSeatingChart.pdf

If that won't open properly for you, go to
http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdwi/en_GB/dining/diningDetail?id=HoopDeeDooMusicalRevueDiningPage
and on the left side menu, under the prices, it says "view seating chart" which will open the first link I posted above.

Section 3 is to the far left or the far right in the balcony. Section 2 is the middle balcony OR the middle back of the main floor.

Last year we went to the Luau and all that was available was section 3. I took it since we were there during free dining and I mostly likely would never spend the money to see the show. Plus I had to call about 10 times over a 2 week period until I lucked out and got a cancellation.

Section 3 was not that bad but really not that good either. We were in the first table in sec.3 which is 3 tables back from the railing. The people that were in the tables in front of us moved their chairs out into the isle which made it difficult to get a clear view.

I read somewhere on the Dis that the tables are assigned based upon the date of reservation. You can not ask for a particular table or area.

We sat in the Cinderella section for the luau last January. I would guess that was section 3, as the seating was not that great. Not horrible. But not what I call good either.
Someone would be very disappointed if they were wanting to videotape or take photos.
For us it was fine since we were just enjoying a night out with friends.

1) Why do you think there are three categories?
2) Obviously, Cat-2 is worse then Cat-1.
. . . Cat-2 is further away
. . . in many cases, some at the tabloe have to turnh around in ther seats
. . . the seats are not as desirable as Cat-1
3) Obviously, Cat-3 is worse than Cat-2.
. . . Cat-3 are out of the way
. . . in most cases there can be a pillar or post in front of you
. . . in many cases, you have to crank the neck to see
. . . in all cases, people at one side of the table have to turn around to see

NOTE: You will hear people say "We had Cat-2 (or Cat-3) and loved the seats. We couldn't tell the difference from Cat-1.". Let me assure you, they did not realize how bad the seats were or did not have an appreciation for good seats. It is like someone saying that they sat in the orchestra section for a musical or in the balcony, and thought they had great seats.

I prefer the balcony to the the orchestra section for a musical. How can assure
me (or anyone) that I just don't realize how bad the seats I prefer are or I
have no appreciation for good seats?

At the "Hoop Dee Do" I prefer Cat-2 to Cat-1 and have really enjoyed Cat-3.
Is that only because I don't have an have an appreciation for good seats?

Help me out here. What am I missing?
