We used to tent camp. (have a popup now) and down here as far as I am concerned you have to have an A/C from June until about September. I can take the heat in the day but I have to have it cool to sleep with any comfort. We just use an old 110 volt 5,000 BTU window unit. I put it on a 4 wheel dolly I had and would roll it up to the door and zip the door closed around it with the front part in the tent and the back outside to vent the hot air. As long as the tent was not in the direct sunlight it would cool it off in the daytime and at night it would get down right cold to the point where we would fight for the covers. A lot of the newer dome tents have small doors on each end to access storage areas and are perfect for an A/C. Just be sure you A/C is slightly sloped with the back of the A/C lower than the front that is in the tent so the water will drip outside the tent.
