In Dec. I got as a BD present a Cool pix 6200.. I like it alright and have been using it NON STOP since then. In Feb. at my husbands birthday party, I put it down and when I picked it back up the top part of it was bent (I think someone sat on the chair it was on and it crashed to the floor).. It still worked, but I brought it to a camera shop to look at it.. The tech told me I may have to buy another camera, but he was able to put back the piece that was sticking out and again, I was still able to use my camera..
Fast forward to 2 weeks ago.. I uploaded some pictures to computer.. I was on a couple of different sites (ie. Dis, and Facebook) and my computer completely crashed. I called the CS line and after about 45 minutes I fixed the computer myself..
1 week later I go to upload some pictures and I can't.. My computer is not showing that it recognizes my camera. I re-install the disk.. still nothing. I must have tried it 4 or 5 times.. I then took an old camera too see if it was the port in my laptop, but it recognized that right away..
So my question is (sorry so long winded)
Is there a fix for this problem? Or will I have to buy a new camera? Obviously, it does not make much sense to use a camera that you can't upload pictures from..

Hi I hope this helps!
You might want to try removing the memory card and using a card reader to transfer the photos to the computer :) I don't know what could be causing the issue :confused3 maybe some kind of compatibility issue with your operating system?
You can also try connecting the camera to someone else's computer to see if the problem is in your PC or your camera. If other computers don't recognise it then your memory card might be corrupted.

thank you so much!! i can buy an external memory card reader right?

If you're using a laptop or netbook chances are that you might already have a card reader. Search for a slot that says something along the lines of "SD/MMC/MemoryStick/Flash". Be aware that if you're using a "mini" memory card you might need an adapter
If I were you I'd take the card to a Kodak Express kiosk (do you have those where you live?) or a photo lab and see if they can read its content before buying any new card or card reader.
;)
Also have in mind that the card reader you use has to be compatible with the card. I've found that one of my laptops can't read SDHC (high speed SD) but a newer one can (and it's just a month newer)

:)
