I need tires for my Honda Odyssey. The most convenient place for me to buy them is at Town Fair Tire but the brand that they recommend is TOYO tires. I've never heard of them. Are they ok or am I better off with a more well known brand such as Michelin, Goodyear, etc?
TIA!

I've never heard of them...I'd pass on convenience and go elsewhere for tires...one safe way of getting good tires is to go with whatever the manufacturer put on the vehicle originally..

I work for a company that supplies all the tires to auto dealerships (unfortunately, Honda is not one of the carlines we sell to).

Toyo tires are very good tires -- I would go with the tires recommended by the tire center. They'll know what's best for your vehicle.

Drive Toyo For Unheard-Of Tire Technology
For over 50 years, Toyo has been a world leader in the development of advanced technology in the design and production of tires. And, as the fifth-largest tire manufacturer in the world, Toyo has an excellent reputation for building high-quality tires at a competitive price. Toyo products include superior performance tires, a great selection of light truck tires, and excellent broadline tires for passenger cars. Now, word is getting out.

Toyo Tires has been voted #1 in product quality for 7 years running in the annual Tire Review magazine survey of independent tire dealers - passenger/light truck segment. For a reprint of survey highlights, call 877-299-8696.

Optimum Performance, Safety, And A Comfortable Ride
The same technology that makes Toyo tires perform under the grueling punishment of the track is engineered into every one of our tires. You can be confident that no matter how sudden the stop or sharp the turn, your Toyo tires will let you handle it like a pro.

Even before we build a tire and test it at the Toyo test facilities, our engineers examine it using our revolutionary computer analysis. Now, for the first time, changes in the contact area between a moving tire and the road can be simulated and measured moment to moment in variable driving conditions. Those constant changes in contact area are important to you because they ultimately affect a tire's performance. If a tire doesn't pass the computer analysis, it's not going to make it to our test facility - or to your vehicle.

Test Toyo On Your Own Track
Visit one of the hundreds of dealers nationwide to choose the tire right for you and take advantage of our "Experience the Difference in Quality Trial Offer."

Buy A Set Of Eligible Toyo Tires And Test Them On Your Vehicle Under Your Driving Conditions For Up To 500 Miles.
If you are not completely satisfied with the performance of the tires, return them to the dealer for a full refund or replacement - even the choice of refund or replacement is yours. Visit your Toyo dealer for complete details and a list of eligible tires.

Get To Know Toyo Tire Technology
Drive our quality reputation into your part of the world. We're confident in the superior performance, outstanding ride quality, excellent fuel efficiency, and high mileage of our tires. After your own test, you will be, too.

Toyo are very good and generally inexpensive tires. If you have a Cosco or Sam's Club in your area (or any other type of warehouse club), they are by far the best place to get tires. You'll make back the annual due's fee (usually $40) and still save money. They also usually include road hazard and installation into the quoted price.

I just bought tires for my Ford Windstar. I has complained that my car hydro-planed pretty badly and they recommended the Goodyear Assurance tires. They were expensive, but so far I really like them.

I bought Goodyear Aquatreads for my dad's explorer. I couldn't believe how much better it handled with those tires - especially in the rain.

So that's what I put on my Honda Odyssey when I needed new tires.

Goodyear doesn't make the Aquatread anymore. They replaced it with the Assurance TripleTred. :)

DH runs Kelly's on his truck- the summer treads. He puts a lot of mile son his truck- (100K in 3 years) so he was looking for a tire that would last a few summers, and didnt cup very easily.

In the winter- he slaps on Goodyears

my Blazer, BFG's

My Envoy- Goodyears

My Grand Am I ran goodyears in the summer- and Nokian Hackapaleetta II's (yeah- say it fast..then try to spell it out like I did :) ) They were snow/ice tires- with studs...best tires I've ever had- most expensive too...too bad they wont fit on the Envoy!

I've heard of Toyo's- I've never had them recommended to us, but we always use the same tire place. They may just keep giving us goodyears cause thats what we run the most? The Kelley's were recommended because we were suppose to drive the truck to Florida- and DH was worried about nasty rain storms.

Toyo's might be a good tire for minivans though, we've never owned one

I'd go with what the tire guy recommends..

Try Tirerack.com. They have several brands of tires and may have a installer near you. Toyo are good tires, I had them on two of my Datsun's (Nissan). Please pay attention to the width of the tire and what your auto manufacture recommends. I would go with the Widest tire recommended giving you more tread on the road.

I got Bridgestone Touranza's for my Odyssey after reading about them on multiple internet auto BBs. They are MUCH quieter than the stock Michelins--I highly recommend them.

I've got an 03 Odyssey that I'm getting tires for TODAY. The tires I'm having installed are Bridgestone Turanza LST $515 for four, installed, balanced with lifetime balance and rotation.

I learned about these tires on board like this for the Ody.

Check out www.odyclub.com

the following should take you to the tire forum:

I was going to purchase the tires through the Tire Rack, but after having them delivered, installed, then purchasing a lifetime rotate and balance, the price was the same as my neighborhood tire store.

Hope this helps.

I didn't know about this website, thanks!
