We are going to Disney Nov. 30-Dec. 5 for our first family trip- with 2 sons, ages 6 and 4. Any suggestions/tips/comments about this resort would be very helpful. Thanks!!

Awesome resort! We were there last August. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

We are not fans of this resort. Because it's so large, if you happen to be in a building further away from the food court and pool, it's quite a walk. The rooms were very damp. We had a pair of shorts hung up in the room for 6 days that never dried...homework pages curled from the moisture. The buses were a nightmare for us. We ended up walking to the first stop every day just to ensure getting on a bus.

Its an okay resort! The rooms are some what damp though, I noticed that too! Get a ground floor room if possible, its better then walking up stars when you return and are already feeling like you never want to walk again. My girl ages 1 and 3 at the time loved the pool! I would not get to excited about eating there though, the food is not all the great! Have a good time, because all in all it is a very pretty resort!

Hi, jjones0418! In order to get the most responses to your question, I'm moving this over to the Resorts Board. Please check there for further replies.

Happy planning!

CBR is a beautiful resort. Florida has lots of humidity so you may find some dampness at any of the resorts.

They will have a beautiful new pool complex by the time you get there.

You might want to take a look at the CBR FAQ thread. Link is below. Also no need to go outside the DIS when we have information here. http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/Resorts/cbr.htm

Stayed there May 2007 was wonderful! Had previously stayed at All Star sports and loved that too especially when my kids were your kids age, but CBR is great. You'll see alot of posts that its a large resort and a lot of walking. I had no problem with the size of the resort- Its spread out enough so after a long day at the parks its nice and quiet, we used the quiet pool a lot and never used the main pool - too crowded. I know they are refurbishing the main pool and will be done by the time you go. We requested Jamaica or Aruba because its across a nice bridge that has hammocks and alot of pretty flowers and banana trees. Was nice in the morning on way to the food court, which was great - we ate there every am and pm good variety- especially for kids, the waffles are in the shape of Mickey!

When other people post that they didn't like the size of the resort - they apparently didn't research it before and apparently don't realize you are in DISNEY which means a lot of walking anyway. With your kids ages you might want to request when you check in one of the bldg s near the food court and main pool- You can still use the quiet pool each bldg (or island) has their own.

We also used the surrey bike one day that we decided to hang around the resort it was great fun. We also did the paddle boats. This resort was very nice and has the Florida tropical feel. If you pull up their website you can print out a map to see which bldg s are where and make your decision , when you check in they are very accommodating. This year we are trying the POR going just DH and I for 25th aniversary so wanted to try another resort.

Hope you have a great time- I'm sure you will!!!!:yay:

We stayed at CBR for our honeymoon in 2000 and it was wonderful. If I remember correctly, we stayed in Jamaica and it wasnot too far of a walk to get to the food court and big pool. We really enjoyed laying in the hammocks and swimming in the quiet pools in the evening. There was a reggae band that played everynight. It was awsome and we even thought about staying there again this year when we go in May, but the main pool is closed for remodeling, so we decided to try POR Riverside.

Have a great trip and happy planning

Anyone who strongly wants a room near the food court and main pool is strongly advised to pay extra and reserve a "preferred location" room. Preferred location means being in one of the 6 buildings closest to the food court and main pool.

If you merely request it at check-in time, the odds are badly stacked against you. Number one, those rooms may be sold out. Number two, even if a preferred location room is available, you might not get it upon request because they might not be giving out free upgrades.

I stayed here many years ago with a friend of mine. I remember the pretty pink resort. I don't remember having any issues at all. We loved the beach they have there & I remember laying in a hammock at one point, too.

I went for the first time to CBR last September with my kids 7 and 5. I had always wanted to stay there. We have stayed at other resorts, but we really loved it! :thumbsup2 My kids asked to go back this fall, so we are. The resort is beautiful. The kids loved the old main pool and are super psyched about the new pool that is opening this fall. We were in one of the farthest villages, Trinidad South, but my kids and I really enjoyed the walk to OPR. There were birds, fish, turtles all along the way that kept them entertained. It was very nice. The quiet pool close to our room was really great too after a long day and night at the parks. Also, the bus stop was really quite close to the room, so that was really fantastic as well.

I paid for non-preferred but made a room request this trip coming up, but do not expect to get it. Just call me Queen Notta Requesthonored. Never had any luck with them. But I am fine wherever they put us.

Have a wonderful trip!!

Denise
