Does anyone know anything about a "bullseye rash"?

Lymes, take him in to be seen so they can verify without a blood test.

ticks can also be brought into your house by mice, into your yard by squirrels, chipmunks, bunnies, etc.

If it's Lyme and they treat it right away, it's apparently no big deal anymore (my 4yo nephew just got treated for Lyme). Antibiotics, that's it. But if it's Lyme and it's not treated, it can create many problems.

If it's ringworm, it needs to be treated too.

Put his butt in the car and go - I know how men can be w/ doctors (I'm actually like that too, and I'm a woman).

Sounds like Lyme Disease.

I had this about 3 years ago and was very sick with body aches and headaches. He need to see a doctor, and get his blood tested. They will him put you on antibiotics for a month.

2 of my boys have had Lyme. Has he had a fever recently? That's another early symptom of lyme that's not well publicized. One DS had the bulls eye another had just the fever. The test is just a very simple blood test so i would see about having it done tomorrow. You should have results w/in 2 days.

They reran my bloodwork twice bc although I had some Lyme tihter bands, they were not enough to call it Lyme, they said it can take awhile to develop, so several weeks later they reran it and it was the same number, not enough to be Lymes. So she may or may not have results right away.

I thought ringworm at first, but when I saw the photo someone posted, that's not ringworm. My kids have had ringworm and the ring is a lot closer to the center red circle, almost touching it, than the rash shown in the photo.

It can show up 4 to 6 weeks later. Many people get tick bites and never know it until symptoms show up. Also, look for flu like symptoms, aching joints is another sign. Of course, you may not get ALL signs so OP even if he doesn't have any other he should still see a Doc ASAP.

ETA We are on symptom watch as per the doc for my ds. He was out in the woods last week and had a nasty tick bite on his scalp.

TY for the Time frame. I got bit by a tick myself a few weeks ago. Found it on my hip and thought it was dirt or something. That sucker did NOT want to come off. Its a few weeks later and I can still see the bite from where I pulled him off. No bullseye though. Found ANOTHER tick in my house just a couple of days later This is a first for us. Our vet's office said they are particularly bad this year.

Take a picture of the rash now, while it is there. If it takes him a couple days to decide if he wants to go to the dr or not, it might not be there in a couple days for the dr to see.

Something I noticed is that his "rash" is very defined, not shaded like most of the pictures I've seen. The red outer circle looks like it could have been drawn with a red pen as an outline. It is red-red, not pinkish red. I've told him he should get to the doctor to get it checked out and suggested we take a picture. I could tell he was paying attention.

We've been together for over 40 years and I know enough not the try to make him do anything. He'll make the right decision.

Understand that all lyme rings can be different on different people. As well as the problems that it can cause. Especially if not treated. It can cause permenant health problems if allowed to "fester" so to speak in patients. I've known many people to end up with very very serious health issues that but them on the verge of death. (I live in a hotbed of lyme disease areas) Not to be an alarmest but with your husbands prior health issues I wouldn't mess around with lymes. There long term antibiotics should do the trick for almost every patient.

I would do my best to make him understand that while right now it might bother him enough if left untreated in his body it can wreak havoc.

Get tested. The thing with Lyme disease is that it can lay dormant for many years, or forever even...but when it decides to rear it's ugly head, it can be very debilitating. It is not the same in any two people though, but I'd rather know than one day wake up with joint pain and other symptoms.

It is a very simple blood test...make sure they do the Western Blot test. If you test positive, they will more than likely put you on a one month course of Doxycycline.

Another option is an infection of some sort. I had a large red circle with a pimple. My first thought was spider bite. It started growing and they finally determined staph infection.

If you haven't already gone to a doctor, I would definitely encourage he go. If he doesn't want to tonight, I would take a pen and mark the edges of the circle. If it is bigger in the morning, you know it is getting worse.

I agree with MEREKC. My DH had a small rash like that. Went to Dr and they said spider bite...nope, it was MRSA and he ended up in the hospital for a few days and with a pic line for 6 weeks. Not because of the MRSA but because he let it go for so long. It started as a small white pimple that was sort of red with a ring around it. He said it was very itchy. Don't let it go to long before getting it checked. Odds are it is not MRSA but why wait.....Good luck.

glad you are getting it checked out. Lyme undetected can casue havoc later on. I am talking grown man that can no longer walk properly. It was left untreated and has caused major health issues.

Ticks are horrible this yr here. My dog has "tick fever" or ehrlchiosis.

She is a on 30 doxycycline regime. Bads news is she will always test positive for it now and it has been advised that she do a 30 day Dox every winter as a prevention. Bummer....

EDITING TO ADD......EWWWW.....my dd just showed me a tick she found in the kitchen crawling. EWW EWW EWW.

It is a dog tick puffed up as big as a dime. How in the heck did it get there! We have been checking our dog's non stop. Obviously we missed this one. It is gross.

I pulled a deer tick off myself a couple of weeks ago. It had obviously been on me for a couple of days (eek!) as the skin around it was really irritated. Took it to the doc, they sent it for testing, and yes it was a deer tick. As a preventative they gave me a single dose of antibiotic. If I get sick in about 4-6 weeks I get the full Lyme test. Treatment for Lyme positive dogs is a month of antibiotics, and the same for people, I think, but I guess there was a trial showing that a single dose soon after a bite often prevents it.

Of course I knew that I had been bitten AND had the deer (not dog) tick to prove it.

Mine did not look like a bullseye at first, in fact it wasnt until I went the dermatologist and she pointed the very light red that was in the center did it look like more. Then it was determined it was spider bite
