Does anyone here use their dog for hunting?

My Dh and I enjoy duck/pheasant hunting (when we get the rare chance to go) and I want to train Gunner to become a gun dog. My brother in law trained his lab and she's an excellent gun dog. He's going to help me fetch and whistle train Gunner soon. Just curious how long it took for your pup to train.

Sorry, I have never trained a gun dog. I used to do obedience training though. In 10 weeks my dogs were trained for heeling on and off leash, sit and down stay, and to come when called. It may not sound like much, but it is basic obedience and what was needed to earn your Companion Dog obedience degree with the AKC. Good luck with Gunner. Training can be alot of fun!!

Here is a pic of my first titled dog, Sharid's Spittin' Image CDX, TT, HIC. I called him Luke. The photo on the left is Luke doing the retrieve over the high jump. That is something he had to do to earn his CDX.
