For an english project we had to change our behavior in some way :confused3 for 2 weeks and then write about how you felt/how your behavior changed. Well since I'm a TV junkie I decided that I would stop watching tv all together, cold turkey. Now let me just say that I got a 3.7 last semester so obviously TV doesn't get in the way of my school work or anything like that. :teacher: I just use it as a distraction and usually watch it before going to bed at night. Anyways, I'm on day 3 and I'm going crazy!!! And I'm really not sure what I'm going to do on Thursday since The OC starts up again and that is the only show that I was religiously. :worried:
So, do you watch TV? How much?

I never watch tv.......at the most maybe a couple hours or so a month. I really could care less about it to. I also rarely watch movines...maybe 1 or 2 a year.

I would never be able to survive for 2 weeks without TV. I don't really watch it, but I use it for background sound. I do watch it at night before I go to bed, though.

I usually don't watch TV. I just bought a house and I have watched it a little more since I am by myself, but I honestly don't really enjoy it much with the exception of the Travel Channel... More questions? Let me know!

i enjoy my television but i think i could give it up if i had to. Although i''d really really miss Lost and Desperate Housewives. That's about all i'll watch now. Plus reruns of Everybody Loves Raymond. ....and Drake and Josh which my daughter loves and i have to admit is pretty darn funny.

There's only 1 TV show that I watch. And even then, I don't mind if I miss an episode here and there. However, I couldn't live without movies. I pop in a DVD almost every night.

I watch bvery little, selective viewing. With so much junk on TV, it is easy not to bother with it. And with TiVo, I can record what I want and watch it on my time schedule. It truly is a wasteland.

I watch movies, and will glance at whatever happens to be on the tv in the breakroom at work, but not having cable at home goes a long way towards cutting down my TV time.

Wow--I could go cold turkey if I wanted to...but I don't ;).

The days that I do go without--I find the quality of my day improves...I can listen to music for background if necessary. :)

A year ago I watched 3-4 hours of TV each night, now I watch that much each week. I could go without it if I had to, but I really don't want to give up those 3 shows I watch regularly.

I watch very little television too.

Most weeks, if I were to see an hour or 2 that would be it.

Most of that is watched in passing by the television when other people in the house have it on.

Well I listen to Foxnews channel more then anything. I don't really like many shows that are on. I think right now there are 2 tv shows I like maybe 3. I could give up the tv way way way before the internet. On the internet if I am bored or my mind wanders I can click to another page in just a manner of seconds. Tv you have to either wait til a new part comes on of a show or surf through a gazilion channels to find something else. I just don't have the attention span for TV I guess.

The only current show I keep up with is Big Brother. I do turn on Lifetime at nite when I go to sleep (Will & Grace/Golden Girls) and usually wake up in the early AM and shut it off completely.

Some days I don't get to watch TV at all! I try to catch my daily soap, General Hospital on SoapNet, but I mostly record it and watch it later. This way I can fast forward through the parts I don't care about!

Most of my TV watching is on the Travel Channel, Food Network, The Weather Channel, Discovery, local news and HBO. I don't have a clue what is on prime time TV (ABC/CBS/NBC) since I mostly work all 3-11pm shifts.

The teenager that babysits for us occassionally, her family does not own a single tv. Her mom doesn't like tv, so they don't have any. I've met 3 of their kids and they are all great kids and very creative with my kids when she babysits. She does all kinds of crafts and bakes cookies when she's here. And she turns the tv off!

About all I watch is Seinfeld reruns and a little bit of the news at night. Could easily do without it though.

I rarely watch anything other than news shows. Mostly it's commentary (not real news) though.

Every great now and again, I'll watch a movie or something. I think the last thing I watched besides news was the 9/11 special that everyone on the board posted to let us know it was on. Otherwise, I'd have missed that.

I never saw a single episode of Friends, Seinfeld, CSR, Desperate Housewives, or fill in the blank because chances are, I've not seen any of them.

It's hard to quit cold turkey even if you don't watch that much. If I were you, I'd read some good books, keep the radio on so that the silence doesn't drive you buggy and maybe go for walks or out more.

I'm more of a movie watcher as well. I watch Toronto hockey games and the OC regularly though. I could go without the OC if I had to because I could buy the season. I already went a year without hockey though and I'm glad it's back!

Myst

If I know and remember it's on, I might watch it....otherwise I think i've used my new TV less than 30 times so far since August. the OC is really the only show I watch, Laguna Beach I catch reruns between classes sometimes. Last year I watched a lot more because my roommate had it on all the time, but I don't miss it at all.
