a link to a website that helps calculate distance from one point to another?
I remember someone posted one once and I thought I saved it in my bookmarks but now I can't find it. The one I am thinking of allowed me to enter my address and then it gave me a little map to plot out points on and told me how far it was between the points and the total distance from start to finish. This would have been back in March I think. (I used it to prove that my son didn't walk a mile and back from his friends house that the total round trip was about a quarter mile.)
Thanks!!

Go to yahoo. Then click on maps. Then click on Driving Directions. :thumbsup2

Mapquest and google have good maps for driving directions too. One thing about the online maps though, they don't always portray and accurate travel time. I know if we map the route to our old house it says it takes 4 1/2 hours when I KNOW it takes 2 3/4. They don't take into consideration speed limits I think.

Mapquest now has an option to show you the most direct route or the fastest route. Sometimes the direct route is actually faster because of speed limits.

I know what you are talking about but I don't have the answer off hand. My DH knows but he's not home at the moment. As soon as I find out, I'll let you know. In the meantime, another DISer might be able to help. :)

ETA: reeeoga and golfgal - I don't think these are the maps the op is talking about. It's a map that is good for cyclists/runners/walkers etc. Of course, I could be wrong. It wouldn't be the first time. ;)

Here's one. I don't think this is the one I used before but it looks like it does the same thing.

Cool website!!!! I will have to show this to DH who does a lot of running. It will save some gas with him not figuring out the distance for all his new running routes.

Thanks! escape!!! It isn't exactly the one I remember using before but it is close!!
I guess I wasn't really clear when I posted what I was looking for. Sorry about that.
I want to start walking our dog but since she hasn't been walked regularly in the past I don't want to over do it with her. So I wanted to figure out how far it was going different streets in our area so I can build her up to longer distances. (Of course this will benefit me too. We can get in shape together!! )

Type your city name in the Jump to box and click the Go button. Use the arrows at the top left of the map or click and drag to navigate. Click the start recording button on the left and double-click along your planned route. The distance will display below the recording button.

Thanks!!!! I searched and searched this morning before I posted. I knew my DIS friends would come through for me!!!!
