Does anyone have points under 150??

In 2008 I had 50 points and I thought that was enough, and then the addiction set in. Now I have 315 points, one third on those points goes to inviting family and friends.:dance3:

I thought DVC requires a minimum of at least 160 points to purchase, at least as of 2008 when i bought, was that different before that or since then?

The original minimum was 230 points, then it dropped to 210, then it dropped to below 200. I think it was even at 100 for a very short time. It has been at 160 for quite some time.

Many of the smaller contracts were bought on the resale market. DVC owners can purchase add-on contracts from Disney for as little as 25 points.

Also, I think the number of minimum points for a direct purchase tends to differ depending on the DVC salesperson you speak to....

I bought my 100 direct in 2010.

Sometimes I think an extra 25 might be useful but the 100 works. It'll be a stretch when we take our godchildren in a few years but that was always going to be a split stay (offsite) so it'll just be a slightly uneven split :)

In 09 I bought 100 direct. By 2011 we had bought 35 more at HH and added 50 more this year..

Looks like we've got the smallest contract so far on this thread... we have a whopping 40 points at AKV! :)

We bought resale a few years ago (2008, I think) and it has worked for us. We stay in studios, bank/borrow and sometimes we have rented points via a transfer into our account from another member or buy a few extra points from DVC to round out our stay. It's all we could afford then and with a change in DH's job situation, it's where we will have to stay for the time being. It gets me to WDW on a semi-regular basis and that's all that matters to me!

We bought a direct 80 pt BCV contract in summer 2011. I think they say 100point minimum, but they would have let us buy a 50 point contract at the time. We used it for a week at Aulani in March and are planning a trip to BCV next March. We had planned a trip for last summer, but had to cancel it at the last minute and transfered the points into RCI so we are using that for a trip this summer. Must say we love our small DVC contract...but we are planning on adding on:). We got on the WL while at Aulani for more BCV points at the old pricing and am on the lookout for a resale contract-will take whatever comes through first:).

Good Luck.

130 that I work like a boss. ;) I'll echo others here, that being semi-local helps; I can use my points in bulk for a long stay or break them up for a bunch of weekends, depending on our needs any given year. I'm borrowed through 2014 at the moment, but not planning a long WDW stay next year, so it works out.

We bought 100 for our first DVC resort, being from Australia, the airfare costs limit our trip so a visit to Disney every 2-3 years is good - but I am already considering to purchase more on our next trip :)

Our son and daughter-in-law have 50 points, which we bought for them as a wedding gift almost two years ago. They banked their first year points and this past January stayed for four nights in a 1 bdrm at VWL. They will again bank points this year and most probably rent this year's and next year's points(to either us or one of my daughter-in-law's siblings)since they're currently expecting TWINS and I seriously doubt they will be ready to travel with twin babies before they are two years old!! But, think about all the fun they will have after that!!! I'm quite sure there will be some adding on in their future!!!

We have exactly 150 at BCV. Bought in 2003 and always thought we'd add on but we never have. Our 150 points affords us 5 or 6 nights a year in a 1BR at BCV, std view BWV or OKW. I don't like to borrow so we try to stay within our 150 points.

We are close to 150. Two contracts - 100 at BWV and 75 at BLT. That is enough points for me. Hopefully, we can retire, move to Florida in 10 years, and sell one of the contracts.

We have 100 pts. They were only bought about a year ago but I think it will work fine for us. We usually go for 4-5 days (in a studio) during an off time. We can get a few trips over two years points and then cool off with the trips the third year, just do one or bank the points for a bigger room the following year.

Time will tell if it works out that way.
