I have been reading all the posts and it got me wondering. I see posts about how people have 200 or higher I was just wondering if people have low points contracts
We have 125 points. We are locals, so we use our points to do extended weekends/staycations here and there at WDW and VB. . We are a family of 3, we are fine staying in a studio for now, so those points are sufficient. Of course ideally we would like to have more, but that's all we could reasonably afford.
There are some folks with lower point totals. Generally they will bank and borrow to take a trip every other year or every 3 years. Or they may use their points for very short trips, but that would depend upon their overall transportation costs to/from Disney as to whether short trips are worth it.
Plan is to only travel EOY, but we've managed somehow to be at WDW or DL or DCL every year. Never for full weeks though. This is the first year we're doing 8d/7n - and because of the AP discount, 3 trips in a year!
I tried to add on last December, a great deal for $150 @ OKW but was ROFRd
So, this is it for now - until prices come down a bit.
We have 125. Plan was 2 trips every 3 years but we have surpassed that. We are in borrow mode and its strictly studios for the next year or so.
I'd rather be in a position to borrow points or to have to transfer/rent than have points I have to pay for that we don't need. So far it fits our needs. Sometimes feel like maybe 150 would be better but we do fine with what we have.
We have 155 points and it's not enough. We tend to travel during higher point seasons and we've had to borrow points to do so. Just passed ROFR on a 200 point contract so we'll have 355 points!
We have 375, but only 125 are really ours. 250 are my parents. When we decided to buy we just added our names to their contract and added on. Makes pooling points and long term estate planning easier.
But the 125 isn't enough. We own at BLT and prefer 1-2 bedrooms. We typically travel with friends and/or family making studios difficult.
We only have 50 points, because we only go every 2-3 years. When the kids get older we might add on, but right now the ordeal of plane travel, staying away from home, etc. is exhausting (fun, yes, but a lot of work for us). When we don't have to worry about diapers and strollers it'll be easier to travel.
We started with 100 points at BWV. It was just the two of us, and we're very pleased with studios. 100 points got us MORE than a week during January in a standard view. We've taken both sets of parents, and been able to do a lot with banking and smart spending.
We now have 200 points since we added on at VGC. We still stay in studios, but go twice a year. We're taking my in-laws again in September.
We started out with 100 and felt we were lucky to have that many. Now, a "few" add-ons later, we will soon have 370 and I don't know if we're ready to stop or not. Of course, our kids were unmarried "then" and "now" we have spouses and grandkids to travel with us, so I guess you could say our requirements have changed!
