Does anyone have any non park ideas for kids at WDW on New Years Eve?

Going to be at WDW for New Years Eve with our five grandchildren ages 2-12 (and their parents). Want to do something special for New Years Eve but have decided we don't want to fight the crowds at the parks that day. Any ideas?

We aarrive on the 31st and probably not going to a park.
This is what we have come up with so far:
1. since our first night in WDW, let the kids explore POP, swim, bed early...early to the parks the next day
2. Go over to the Boardwalk area, get some counter service and find an outside bench to eat...soak up the atmosphere of the boardwalk and hope something is going on over there
3. Call the swan or Dolphin and see if they have any activities on that night. On their web site it looks like they had some free activities in the lobby that evening but have not posted for this NYE yet. But since we are not staying there, I'm not sure if we wil be able to do that or not.

Thats all I have come up with so far. Hopefully someone else can add to this list.

what about Fort Wilderness..I wonder if we could do the petting zoo/pony rides late afternoon and then eat at the buffet there??? I have never been to Fort wilderness (or the boardwalk area for that matter) so not really sure.

I second the go to bed early (at least the kids), we went to MK early the next am and it was all ours until around 10:30-did 7 major attractions with pretty much no wait then left for the day. The rest of the week was super busy.

MK was quiet until 1030 am Jan 1?...that would be amazing. If we did that Jan 1, that would probably give us enough time to do a lot of the attractions in Fantasyland and we could beat the crowds to Toontown. The only time we have been to Toontown it was SOO crowded. I would love to see this little land when it was quiet.

Thanks for the tip

I don't know if they will do the same this year or not, but we were staying at BWV for New Years with another couple. We had gone to Epcot during the day and it was SO busy by late afternoon early evening that we decided to go back to the resort and just sit on the big porch by the check in area overlooking the boardwalk.
After a while, we noticed a DJ was setting up right below us. We had comfortable seats so we decided just to stay there and not go back to the park at all. It was pretty good - they even gave out hats and noisemakers.

Have dinner at Ohana and watch the fireworks from the beach!!!! It's beautiful.....a late night.....but hey, you're on vacation. If you're not staying at a Magic Kingdom resort, either drive to the Poly or catch a bus to Downtown Disney and transfer to a bus to your resort.....it beats waiting in those ridiculously long lines at the MK.

We will be ariving on the 31st, driving from Ga. We will be staying at All Star Sports that night, I think we will just stay at the resort and explore and even eat there, hubby says he is watching football. We will go to bed early so we can be at a park first thing.

How about going to the Hoop Dee Doo for dinner. We have done that in the past with extended family and everyone had a ball.
