Does anyone have a good dip for veggies?

I am thinking that we need to eat healthier by incorporating more fruits and veggies into our diet. But I have tried just having them around the house and they end up in the garbage.

I think I can incorporate fruit by making desserts, cookies and breads that include fruit. I will try to add more veggies to supper, but dh and I could snack on veggies at night instead of junk if we had a good dip.

Any other ideas for incorporating fruits and veggies for people who aren't really fruit and veggie eaters?

I'm w/Disneyland_emily.......I like the plain old boring Ranch dip!
Preferably the Hidden Valley Ranch packet that you mix w/sour
cream. I've had a fruit dip made w/yougert (sp?) but don't have the recipe. You could probably find one if you did a search on the internet.
Good luck!

This is a good veggie dip:

1 pkg of good seasonings italian dip
1 container of sour cram
2 taplespoons of honey

mmmmmm

If you can find someone locally who sells Tastefully Simple there are a lot of YUMMY dips!
My favorite is spinach herb (and I hate spinach - lol)
also like Garlic Garlic, Bacon bacon, and the seisty one!

Our current favorite is T. Marzetti's Southwestern Ranch. It has a "bite" to it, so might not be to the taste of your children. It's not too bad if you skip the "lumps" - which are pieces of jalapeno.

Other ones we like are Marzetti's plain ranch & Marie's Creamy Italian. Mmmm

1/2 cup miracle whip (you can use light..but don't use 'free;)
1/2 cup bbq sauce (any kind you like)
1 hard boiled egg ( chopped up)
2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish

Mix all together..add a touch of salt and pepper..chill
serve with veggies!

This is one of my personal favs. It's great for veggies or bread dip as well. It takes a while to set up so I suggest making it the night before. I also set it out for a while before I'm ready to use it so it softens up.

One pkg. of Hidden Valley Ranch Salad Dressing mix (not their dip mix--I know--weird)

One cup of mayo (or miracle whip gives this a little tang and it's become my preference)

One 8 oz. of cream cheese

Milk -- add enough milk until creamy

It's doesn't mix smooth and creamy entirely but will become that way after it sets up in the refrig. overnight. If it's too thick when ready to serve, just add more milk. It's really delicious.

They had two cream cheese-ed type dips. One is seafood cheese, and the other is garlic salsa. They are both large containers (we bought them for a party), and about $5-6. The seafood cheese had a bit too much fat for my diet, but I keep sneaking some here & there! They were both a big hit with baby carrots and celery!

I like the Spinach dip recipe on the back of the Knorr soup box:

1 pkg. Knorr vegetable soup mix (dry)
16 oz. sour cream
1 pkg. frozen spinach, thawed, drained
1 can water chestnuts, chopped coarsely
Mix soup with sour cream. Add spinach and water chestnuts. Chill over night. Serve with chopped vegetables for a tasty dip.

Mix cream cheese and salsa in the food processor until smooth. I think one small bottle of Pace is about the right amount of salsa for one block of cream cheese. This is great with veggies (also with chips).

We do this one, but with sour cream. I also use either Chi-Chi's or Newman's Own salsa, as we despise the Pace stuff. :o We have to double the batch, because....well, the name probably tells all. ;) We like it with veggies, tortilla chips and pretzel sticks. :teeth:

Face First Dip

1 pkg cream cheese
1 pkg Neufchatel (light cream cheese)
1 c sour cream
1 c salsa, medium

Soften cream cheese. Combine with sour cream. Chop salsa with hand blender. Add to cheese mixture. Blend well.

My absolute favorite fruit dip is really simple:

1 pkg cream cheese
1 jar marshmallow creme, the short fat one, don't remember the size

Mix together and chill 2 hours in the fridge. Yummy with apples!

Here's a way to get even MORE veggies with your veggies: ;)

Garden Vegetable Dip

1 8 ounce block of cream cheese
1/2 c shredded carrot
1/2 c shredded zucchini
1 T. chopped parsley
1/4 t. garlic salt
dash of pepper

This dip is great with crackers, dark breads like pumpernickel or with more veggies!

I have a good dip for fruit as well.

Mix one container of a good brand of yogurt with an 8 oz. container of cool whip! It's so easy and it's delicious and easy. It will stay for about a week in the refrigerator as well. I use a strawberry blend usually like straw/banana, etc. I don't usually tell people there is yogurt in it because they turn up their noses. They are shocked to learn it's yogurt once they tried it.

A packet of onion soup mix stirred into a 16-oz. tub of sour cream is good, too. Just let it sit at least an hour or so, for the onions to soften up.

T. Marzetti's (sp?) makes some absolutely yummy dips... look for them in the refrigerated section near the veggies at your grocery store. I'd highly recommend ANY of the flavors (and fruit dips, too!). :)
