Wondered if there were any other miniature hobbiests here. I have a huge 1 in scale dollhouse that my dad built a number of years ago. I am so looking forward to retirement next year to work on it again.

I have made some of the furniture and bought some too. Almost as much $$ as real stuff!

Mine is very modern, with a teakwood deck, marble fireplace hearth, & wood veneer flooring.

I have a Victorian one, and an old fashioned general store. It is beautiful. Lights. parquet floors, period furniture. I would decorate if for Christmas. When I got married, my husband and I build a large home (7,000 sq ft), so I wanted to display it in one of the rooms. I made the mistake of taking it out of storage (it is from when I was younger). My three-year old twins started playing with it, and broke a few things, and peeled some wallpaper off, broke a railing off one of the wrap-around porches. I was devastated! Needless to say, it is back in storage, where we will enjoy it together when they are older.

We still have a dollhouse store in our area. A bit rare. It is such an expensive labor of love! When the girls are about 8, I will start building one with them.

I have one. My husband and I spent a year building it (it's not from a kit) and it's gorgeous. It's more of a traditional, 10 room, wrap around porch, balcony with french doors, lighting, etc. It's fully decorated and furnished. All pieces are Bespaq, including the china in the dining room. Even the kitchen cabinets and refrigerator are fully stocked.

I found that once we were done building it and I was done furnishing it, I was not interested in it anymore. I wish I had never spent all of that money. It sits collecting dust in a room that nobody goes into.

I had one when I was younger. I managed to save most of the furnishings but the house itself got ruined over the years. Several years ago I bought a kit and started building again. I love it! The kit was very cheap, bad plywood, everything broke so I've spent a great deal of time and money re-building the exterior; new windows and doors, trim, etc. I've fairly pleased with the outcome. I'm working on landscaping now. Eventually I'll get to the inside, but the outside is the most fun for me.

I still have mine that I built when I was in HS. I have always collected miniatures, and I needed some place to house them. I still have the the house set up. Right now it is decorated for Halloween. I love making the curtains, bedding, rugs, etc. It is so much fun!
