Does anyone have a Cadillac CTS?

I really want a convertible but I do like the look of the Cadillac CTS and I have to consider the fact that I live in Connecticut and the top will be up 2/3rd of the time. That considered, I am looking at other cars. I currently drive a 2000 Chrysler 300M which I have been very happy with. I have 144K and the car has been good to me. That said, I don't care for the boxy look of the new 300 series of Chryslers. DH would like me to take a look at the STS which offers all wheel drive. I believe the CTS is rear wheel. Any opinions. I do like comfort. ;)

I bought a Cadillac 3 weeks ago and will NEVER drive another car the rest of my life...well, another Cadillac perhaps. The CTS is *beautiful* but not the most comfortable of the Cadillacs. DH and I both thought that would be the one for us but when we sat in it we were disappointed. Try them all out and see. Hey, that pink Caddy I posted got you going didn't it??? ::yes:: :rotfl:

It was the pink Caddy and I have checked and there is no pink available. I guess I will have to settle for White Diamond. Which Caddy did you get?

I drive an STS and love it. I doubt I will drive another car, either.

And no, mine is not pink. It is champagne (moondust beige, I think)

I didn't really *need* another car. I've got the little 350Z that's less than a year old but get sooo tired of changing 6 gears in city traffic. DH knew the Z was his idea and felt bad that I wasn't happy with it. He decided to get me a bigger car with automatic transmission for Spider and me to ride around town in. Didn't have my mind on a Cadillac at all...just a bigger comfy car. We ended up at the Cadillac dealership looking at and trying out nearly everything they had...new and used. We both fell in love with a 2002 Eldorado that an older couple had owned. Looks brand new and only had 22,000 miles on it! Talk about comfort....unbelievable!

Do you have the all wheel drive option? If not, how is your car in snow?

When I was looking for a car I test drove the CTS. I was disappointed with the drive.

No, mine is older and has front wheel drive with traction control. Not bad in the snow at all. I haven't had any problems at all. We really haven't had any horrible snow storms since I have had it anways. But, to be honest, if it's really bad out, I take my DHs car. Not so much because I don't trust the Cadillac, but because I would rather someone hit my DHs car. (don't tell him I said that)

I am surprised. Consumer Reports and Road and Track rated the drive very well and compared it to the BMW for handling. What didn't you like? I haven't test driven one yet.

Nearly forgot....go to this link for *any* info you could possibly want for Cadillac of any kind...brand new or used. It's the "Dis" of the Cadillac world. I found out so much about my car here.

I know you're steering away from the two seater, but I think you'd look good in a BMW.

Some day when you've got time to kill, visit their photo galleries. Outstanding vehicles of all ages in primo condition. :teeth:

DH bought the CTS shortly after it came out...2002, I think. He loves it and it is his baby!!!! I don't drive it a lot, but I can tell you that even though it is rear wheel drive it handles very well in the snow (we live in Chicago) with the traction control. If you have any other specific questions, let me know and I can ask him.

I have a CTS and love, love, love it!

It's been a great car, and the first "Caddy" I ever had - I am impressed with the Cadillac service also, and the feeling Cadillac gives you as an owner (that they are glad you own one, and will be there for you).

Now far as the ride (and the seats), it is not your average cream puff feeling - more like a sportscar. My DH had a Corvette and thinks the steering is comparable to that, very "quick" which I also love - no wandering all over the road, it just sticks where you want to go and is great in corners :thumbsup2 The turning ratio is perfect, I can turn on a dime when I find a great parking space (!), and it's actually pretty small and fits in smaller parking spaces - now you have to realize I was driving a Ford Excursion (huge SUV!) before this CTS, so anything would probably feel small to me! :rotfl:

Mine is Sable Black, with Pewter (grey) leather interior and Luxury Sport package, which includes the 17" polished alloy wheels instead of the regular 16" wheels. (I don't know if this is such a good thing - my DH ran over something in the road, and we had to purchase a new tire, and those 17" tires were very expensive to replace, almost $300 each! Yikes!) When it is clean, it is a very beautiful car! :rotfl2: Wish it was cleaner more often. I also got the Bose system (great sound!) the 5 speed auto transmission, the express open sunroof, and the split folding rear seat. The standard features are great too, including the front and side air bags for driver and passenger, ABS, steel safety cage, traction control, Onstar....

The only con I can think of is that the trunk is not so big, so be sure it will be big enough for you - the only time I have a problem is when we have a lot of people fly in to visit us here in Florida and I have to pick them all up at the airport with all their luggage. Also since I've never had it in snow, I don't know just how it would be. :confused3

I would definately buy another Cadillac in the future!

That is so funny. I found it and posted on it before I came over and asked you guys. Even though I found the "Cadillac experts", you know I value all your opinions. ;) I had to ask here!

Amarberry and Seahunt; thank you. That's just the kind of info I was looking for. I am going to take a closer look at them tomorrow. Thanks.

as an owner of a 2002 300M Special. and a member of the Chrysler 300M Enthusiasts Club, I highly recommend a used 2004 300M with low mileage, you know you like the car and that way you don't get hit with the big depreciation of a new car...

We had a CTS & LOVED it. It was such a fun car. And really roomy. We just loved it!

The CTS was our 4th Caddy. We had 2 Cateras ("The Caddy that zigs"), A DeVille, and then the CTS.

We are Caddy people. And we LOVE them!

When we traded it in 2 years ago, we upgraded to the Cadillac SRX which has a bit more room & is more SUV like. And I am REALLY happy with it.

But I still miss my sporty little CTS.

DH is thinking of trading in his Escalade for another CTS next year. He doesn't need the big "family car" since we never take his car when we all go out. And his is just TO big.

I will be really excited if he does. That means I will get to drive the little sports car every once in a while. Not just the Mom-mobile that is the SRX. :)
