Recently the Food Network has added some new cooking shows like

Down Home with the Neely's
Jamie Oliver
Rescue Chef
Simply Deliciouso (sp?)

Does anyone else find these shows to be really bad? Each one of these shows are horrible (imho?). I end up turning off the channel when they come on. For some reason it seems like the Food Network has lowered their standards with cooking shows.

Does anyone else agree or am I just crazy?

I haven't seen any of these shows, but I love Jamie Oliver and loved his old shows. Is it that bad?? I watch his re-runs of the Naked Chef on the BBC America channel when I can catch it.

They would've done better by giving the people who were booted off the Next Food Network star their own shows. :confused3

The wife's voice on Down Home With the Neeleys is like nails on a chalkboard to me......

I think the girl who won the last food network challenge really could not speak to the camera. Her food looked good but she didn't have what it takes to be a food network celebrity.

Now I think Guy Fieri is great. He has such personality. And Dan & Steve, I liked them too but they also didn't have the food network celebrity personalities

There's something about her mouth that drives me batty. When she talks it's like she uses one side more than the other. I LOVED the girl that came in 2nd place though. I thought she had much more spunk and personality.

I agree on Guy Fieri. He can be sooo over the top sometimes- but he's interesting and has a personality.

I totally agree. I didn't like the winner at ALL and would not watch her show. I wanted the Texas girl to win! Now HER show I'd watch!

Guy Fieri is the best thing in the Food Network. He has natural charm and he's FAST on his feet. Looooooove him!

And the wife on the Neelys... :scared: her voice is the reason I cannot sit thru that show! Does her husband HAVE a voice?

ME TOO!! I kind of like the husband.... but she annoys me! He ought to do more talking than her...

Yay, I'm not alone in disliking the new shows. The camera work is weird too...I'll stick to Emeril and Rachel Ray

The few new shows I have seen all seem to have "seriously hot" ladies as hosts. Gizelle (sp) for one but also that cuban Hoffman hottie.....

To the point where I can't even recall what food they are cooking......

While I am a fan of "eye candy", I was hoping that Food Network would stick to the food........after all, we already have E TV for that sort of thing.....

Regards,

(Guys on this thread, disregard above, DW was watching me while I typed it.....hehehehe).

I agree, and she is always injecting tons sexual innuendo into the show......is that really necessary on a cooking show?!

I just said this exact thing to my husband. Is she annoying or what? I don't like any of the new shows either. Jamie Oliver has always bugged me. I always feel like he's spitting in the food when he talks.

Jamie Oliver, I never liked, so I won't be watching.

The show with the Neely's? Yuck! And this is from a BBQ guy.

Rescue Chef???? never even heard of it.

Let's face it, though, you can't keep the same shows on forever so I guess we are just in a down period.

Personally, I wish they would break our re-runs of many of their older shows, especially Two Hot Tamales.

And I love Diners and Dives, or whatever it is called.

I totally agree.

I actually liked Jamie at Home (the Jamie Oliver show). I've always liked him though.

The Rescue Chef, although cute, is certainly no Tyler Florence (Food 911).:confused3

Down Home with the Neelys is horrible. I can't watch people with bad grammar- Sandra Lee nearly makes my head explode, and this Neely woman has no idea what verb-tense agreement is.
Guy Fieri is ridiculous- an overgrown, trying-too-hard frat boy. Enough with the bleached hair and backwards sunglasses!
As a Latina, I'm ashamed at the type of food Ingrid Hoffman makes and serves to guests. I don't understand why her food show needs to be Latin-"inspired"- why can't it just be Latin? Do FN watchers really want watered-down versions of ethnic cuisine? I guess so, because this trash is on the air while the late great Melting Pot show got canned.

Same goes with Paula Deen for me. Her "Paula's Party" is pure torture! I used to love watching her cooking show, but I can't take it any more. She's too impressed with herself now.

The worst, though, is Sandra Lee. She'd have plenty of time to make actual homemade food if she didn't spend so much time on her silly "table-scapes." irritating.

There are PLENTY of shows that thrill me still on the Food Network but I'm sad to see some end.

At the moment aside from Rachaels "back in the day" and other Racheal annoyances, I only have one complaint but its HUGE! I just can't stomach Gine Neely and since its obvious she annoys others as well maybe the show will be short lived. One can HOPE. I do believe they have found someone more annoying than Rachael Ray.

Guy Fieri is awesome and I love watching him on the Food Channel. Sounds like a guy you just wanna party (and eat) with.:thumbsup2
This is from Guy 101 on the food website -

My birthday (January 22) is a big event every year. It’s called Festivus Maximus and starts 7 days before and rolls up to the last day. We have shirts made each year and there’s usually 40-60 people who come for it and a different menu served every night.

Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives is great and entertaining. I also love anything Iron Chef related.
I wish they would go back to placing food as the single most important ingredient for each show instead of how sexy the host/chef is. :confused3

I have to chime in here and agree. Since December the shows have been downhill.

Do any of you remember the British cooking show with two women, drove on a motorcycle and sidecar and one passed away a few years ago? I cannot remember the name right now. I liked their show.

Wasn't it "Two Fat Ladies" or something like that? That was a great show.
