We will be at WDW on the 3rd of December. Has anyone watched the parade? Is it something fun to do or a waste of our time?

I've seen the parades before, I'm talking about watching them film the parade that you see on TV. Is that fun at all?

It is a waste of time, We did it two years ago and were across the street from Kelly and Regis and they were nice and waived, but it is not like watching a parade. You will just see a band come by, followed by a lot of waiting. We did it for about 45 minutes then went to enjoy the MK, I guess it keeps some people off of the rides. That year might have been different, as Kelly was delayed due to a bad snow storm in NY and we were at the taping when she arrived on Monday. It is kind of neat a there are preformances here and there as singers will sing thier songs in front of the

that what we figured were going to Epcot that day hopefully it won't be packed :guilty: were doing mk the next day do you think it will be packed?

Is there anyway to find out ahead of time what performers will be in the parade? My DD would love to see some of the Disney Stars and we have that day open.

We went to the parade filming in 2002. We thought it was interesting to watch. To our surprise we actually got filmed 2 different times and saw ourselves on TV Christmas morning. We still get a kick out of watching it. :earsgirl:

It would be nice to know if there will be any other performers there that day. My kids wouldn't be excited about Kelly and Regis, but maybe the performers. Do they film ALL of that that day?

We have watched the parade being filmed twice, and both years we were able to see ourselves on Christmas morning. As for other entertainers, you can see a display as you enter a park as to any filming being done and where. It's fun to watch, and even more fun after you see it to try and pick out undercover security amongst the crowd. Filming is done on various days in different parks, and the best is edited and shown. it's fun to see the parade in 65-70 degree weather and know that on Christmas day it is actually cold and raining in the parks, yet you see it sunny

I've been trying to decide if I want to go or not, too. I'll probably go watch for an hour or so, just for the experience.

Do the signs listing the entertainers list only the ones in that park? I'd hate to be at MK watching them film if someone I wanted to see was at MGM!

Does anyone know exactly what days they are filming. I will be there the first week of december and want to avoid it.

it goes slow and is a great time to hit the other parks and rides. :rotfl2:

We've been there when they are taping. Great time to just ride whatever you want with little wait - everyone else is watching the parade :)

As far as I know, they don't "list" the entertainers, they keep it low key to keep the crowds down. I saw it in 2001, there wasn't any announcement that the taping was on Thursday morning, I only found out when I was talking to a cm at the tip board a day before. They tape it over several days, so they probably are not at MGM the same time they are taping at MK. When they say they are going to someone at MGM, that part may have actually been taped a day or two before and spliced into the final show.

The taping isn't like watching a regular parade. They tape it very slow, sending one float at a time down Main Street. I really just wanted to see Regis & Kelly, after that we went to go on the rides at MK.

We lucked into watching the parade filming in 2003. My DDs got the chance to see teen band Jump5 really up close (within 6 feet) and they were estatic. We also saw Clay Aiken up close as well. We were able to see our daughters on TV a couple of times on Christmas day. As to whether it's worth it, it depends on if you like the celebrities your trying to see. There's a lot of starting and stopping as they do several takes, so you could end up wasting a lot of time just hanging around.

We caught the filming of the Easter parade many years ago. It was fascinating to watch how they did it - they were repeating one number over and over again - I don't know how the performers stand it! We watched for awhile - didn't stay for the whole thing.

Dec. 3rd is when they should be filming at MK. We were there two years ago and it was mobbed. It was impossible to get through Main Street. It was a very tight, single file line. My dd kept getting pushed. As for the rides, we were there at 9am and left at 11am. The lines for the rides were very long, there were no walk ons that day:( If you want to be on tv just remember that they run the same float up and down and up and down the street, so one float may take an hour or longer, so you might not get in the picture.
We'll pass on MK that day, but pixie dust to everyone who gets on tv!

we were there last year the day before the parade scenes were taped, got to see winona judd perform at the castle...we were on the side of the castle right up front and it took 4 takes to get it right and about an hour and a half of our time...they usually dont tell anyone who the celebrities are ahead of time. we'll be there again this year!!dont know if we'll stay and watch this time though- once was enough!

Do they tape at the other parks, or just MK? How many days of taping do they do? We are trying to figure out what days to avoid which parks. When I made our DVC ressies, I didn't realize they would be doing all of this then! We will be there 12/02 thru 12/09. I thought we could stick to DS?MGM & EPCOT on the first 2 days, since we will be at the Swan then, before switching to SSR.

I am the ultimate, gullible person! Several years ago my DW and I had the opportunity to be at WDW for Christmas Week. My goal for weeks was to be the first at the MK on Christmas Day, to be in the right place, to be seen behind the stage. Well ... we are first (after getting at the gate very early) but imagine my surprise when I see no stage, no cameras and a CM telling that the taping was weeks ago! :earseek: My DW still will not let me live it down.

We are there this year on the 8th of December. Even with the crowds I will go for the taping if it is still going on. Just a glutton for punishment!
