Does Anyone Ever Watch The Parade Being Filmed?

We were in Epcot a few years ago when the filming was going on for other portions of the show. Little did we know they were planning on filming a sequence in the UK portion of WS that day. Tipped off by British Invasion playing in the outside garden area of the pub. We later learned that they were
filming Charlotte Church in the back streets of the UK. We were on TV for about 5 seconds, but the actual filming from setup to completion took 3 hours.
They had to wait for background noise to subside....at that time Tapestry of Nations was on. It was a "huge" production for a five minute segmet. The staff
and producer Jeff Palmer were great and we have a tape of us on TV.

BTW ....we missed our PS at Rose & Crown!

I was at the MK a few years ago on a Saturday morning that they were filming the opening sequence to a parade with Regis and Kelly. They filmed for several hours that day just to get a few minutes of usable tape. I got some good pictures of Regis and Kelly and some video, but take my word for it, watching the completed parade is better and less repetitious. :)

MY DW and I were also at MGM Studios when they wer filming a "Baha Men" sequence for an even earlier Christmas parade. I taped it on Chistmas morning and scanned the video several times, but never saw us in the actual parade video. The "keeper" must have come from another taping. ;)

One thing we noticed was that immediately following the taping, the CM's ran around reclaiming the WDW hats and paraphenalia they had given out for the taping to those in the front rows. I always suspected that they handed out that stuff, but never thought that they would take it back. :(

Last year they were taping Friday through Sunday. I was there Friday and Saturday. They start before the park opens.

We were there a couple of times during taping and while it was interesting to watch a little of, I wouldn't stay the whole day. Especially with any little kids. Main Street gets packed and at times very uncomfortable. If you wanted to watch a couple of the filming parts, then I would recommend it for the short period. You do get to see some of the movie actors and that could be interesting.

We accidentally stumbled upon the parade being taped in the MK last December. I will be the first one to say, I was incredible disappointed in what I saw. The parade on Christmas morning seems to flow nicely and you dont' get the idea that it is so scripted. We walked in front of the Regis and Kelly and there was a large group of guests on the other side of them (behind them) and every time the producer would say applause, they clapped. Then he said, "look happy and laugh" and they did. Those "live" shots were taped....it ruined the magic for me. Then when they actually did have the actual parade, they were done taping. There was nobody in the booth, no Regis, no Kelly. As a matter of fact we saw Kelly with her kids watching the parade.

I don't know, it just all seemed weird and way too scripted.

My DH and I have been to two. One in 1999....when it was just us (we were footloose and fancy free.....meaning we didn't have any kids yet ;) )

And then we went to one in 2003 with our then 1 1/2 year old.

We had a blast in 99 when it was just the two of us and we had all the time in the world to just sit and watch and even participate (saw ourselves on tv Christmas morning :flower: )

But it's just no fun with kids in tow. It's VERY crowded and no one really watches out for little ones as they're pushing through the crowds. And forget about using a stroller! You'll get dirty looks even if you aren't clipping peoples heals.

I say if it's just adults (or older kids who don't mind sitting around) then it's a fun thing to experience!
