someone tries to offer you Disney advice and you already know. When someone starts to tell me little tricks and such and they think they are being so helpful I hate to tell them that I already know so I stand there, listen carefully and look grateful for the advice.

I will always listen to an advice. There may be something new to be learned.

Part of being a producer is to listen to a lot of bad music. You'll be surprised how much you can learn even from "the lowest common denominators"(for lack of better term)

I try to apply the above mentioned method to every aspect of my life.

I do the same thing - I listen as though I really didn't know what it is they are telling me. There's no harm done, most people enjoy feeling like they've helped someone else out, and you never know when they will say something I really didn't know!

I don't think it's ever happened to me! Everyone knows I'm a Disney freak around here so they come to me!

I did sit and smile with my mouth shut when a friend of my parents told me that the week before last they weren't giving out fast passes because it was so crowded! I feel certain - and the consensus here as well was - that they got there too late to get any so he just assumed they weren't doing them! A classic newbie mistake - show up at the park at 11 - 12 and can't figure out why it's so crowded!!!

Yep. I just grin and bear it. You never know when something new might acutally come up that I haven't heard of before. Not likely, but you never know!

I always find it amusing when one of my friends want to tell me something I had already told them. With enthusiasm too, like they are going to enlighten me with something I haven't heard before. It's not like I know everything about WDW, but I'm an old expert compared to my friends and family. I didn't know there were other people like me until I found this site. I mean I love Disney, but some people take it to new height. They make me look like a greenhorn! But back to the question, you never know what you might learn, so I listen. And smile.:)

I would love if this happened! As it is, I'm the only one I know that EVER goes to Disney. I would welcome the chance to talk about WDW, even if the other person didn't know all the details I've learned from obsessively planning trips. Oh well, that's why I have you guys to talk to!

The hardest part for me is...
a) When someone tells me something I know is wrong. I have learned the hard way many people do not like being corrected.
b) When someone has already gone and missed something big (like fast pass). Sometimes I forget that not everyone plans their next trip before they go on the current one.

Just the other day someone shared with me how much better it is to stay off site. Great pools, I think was the reason. She also said, "There is no reason to stay on site." I asked if she had ever stayed on site and she said, "No," I had to bite my tounge, hard.

I agree HaleyB. For the most part people know I am a total feak:crazy: about WDW so no need to offer advice. They are usually asking me!
I just hate when they come up with bogus info. My aggrivating BIL does this to sound smart. He makes stuff up. I have no problem correcting him!
My tongue would have bleeding if someone told me the pools are better off-site and there was no reason to stay in WDW!:earseek:

I listen, smile and then suggest they join these boards. If they are incorrect I do try to set them straight. I figure if they take the time to share WDW tips with others, they should be giving out the correct information.

I once corrected a co-worker that told a mutual friend that all four parks @WDW were within walking distance of each other. What a shock our friend would have gotten when she got to "the world"!! It amazes me the lack of knowledge some "helpful" people have.

I can't imagine anyone going on a trip to WDW (spending all that money) that didn't do at least minimal research on the parks. But I see them every trip. They are the once just inside the turnstiles, pondering the park maps in MK and trying to figure out where the RRC is!!! THEY DRIVE ME NUTS!!!!

The thought of planning a vacation could be seen as an oxymoron to some people and some personalities cannot cope with it, especially Disney-Commando style.

I reckon we all go a bit crazy here (because its fun :p ), but I really do believe even if you take a few hours to find out the basics you can improve your holiday to Disney immeasurably.

I would always tell a friend the very basics if they were going during a very busy time, but would always emphasise that no matter what they'll have a fantastic time.

This reminds me so much of what happened to our neighbors 2 years ago. They went during sring break week with their kids(1 and 3). They drove up from Tampa and knew NOTHING about the parks. They got there around 10:30 and they said they never even rode a ride (this is in MK). There were "young teens" running around with no adults, the lines were forever, and they didn't know what to do! They did go to AK one day and saw a lot there (I think they got there before 10:00am!) Anyway, they missed their flight home etc. They told me they wished they knew more before they left and will know more next time.

Some people can be so funny! I corrected someone about the walking between parks thing too - just this week! They also thought it was all one park with four sections and a few hotels.
Another friend took her family last March (DD's 7 and 9 like mine). They came home and all said they thought it was o.k. and would not ever go back. We went on our first trip two months later and my family (well, not DH) can't stop talking about our next trip and it drives my friend NUTS! We had two totally different vacations - mine was planned and hers was not, can you tell?

Anyway, I always smile and accept advice and tips - and sometimes I learn some cool things. Most of the time, the only cool things I learn are right here!

I usually listen because there's always something new to learn ... if it's something that I already know I usually just grin and say thanks :) I have this one co-worker who always tells me that the best/cheapest place to get tickets is at TDS. I've tried to explain to her that I have an AP but she doesn't understand what that is. She also tries to corrects the advice I give to my other coworkers who are going to Disney even though the last time she's been to WDW was 25 years ago

I think I never say anything because I just love how excited they get when they think they are sharing very important info. A guy at work was telling me all about his trip and how to use fast pass. The other girls I work with just sat there stunned when I did not say a word and after he left I told them that nobody had better mention that I plan all their trips.

I love the co-workers of mine, who say: Why is it you go so much, haven't you seen it all? I tell them very polite-ly NO! Than, they go on vacation, and guess where they go? WDW of course, and than I ask them: Did you see it all?!:p

:o I listen to advice, then correct people, all the time. Usually people just come to me for advice. Saves me the trouble of having to correct their misconceptions. ;)

I always listen politely and let them give me their advice, most of the time I know but you never know when you might learn something..we can all always learn something new so it pays to listen.....::sunny:

In my defense, I've been to WDW many many times but still have to consult the maps because I'm TERRIBLE with directions. So if you see me standing on the sidelines trying to figure out where I'm at, please don't laugh at me.

CRSNDSNY, I would NEVER ever laugh at you!!! Heck, I get lost in my own bathroom. I always want to help those people out. DH says to "mind your own Disney business" but if I can offer helps or tips to fellow Disney guests, I always do. Most people are very receptive to help, but others don't want bothered.

I still say if you are going to plan a WDW trip and spend a pretty penny to stay there, you should at least get alittle information!!
