Does anyone enjoy Mission Space Orange??

I love MS Green so last Fall decided to brave Orange for the first time. I was expecting some kind of spin (what was I thinking?) and a very different & more exciting experience than Green. As PPs have mentioned, I fortunately followed the instructions to look straight ahead & not close my eyes. For me, the G's felt like someone was pressing a big old cement builder's block on my head and neck. Not once, but over & over again and for a prolonged period of time. Yikes! Not a pleasant sensation for me at all. I don't suffer from motion sickness, followed the instructions and wasn't at all nauseous. But I was very relieved to get off the ride. I'm going back to Green. Good that I tried Orange but not my thing. Maybe I was too freaked out & distracted by that sensation to notice but I don't remember anything else being distinctly different than what I always enjoy on Green.

I prefer Orange because for me its like whats the point to not get the full experience? It's the closest I'll ever get to a real "space shuttle launch" experience. I've only tried Green once and that was because I was hungover. That would NOT have been fun on Orange lmao

We love it! Honestly, I don't see why you'd ride the ride and NOT experience the weightless sensation, that's the point of the ride. It would be like riding TOT with an option to not drop. Why bother?
I personally would LOVE it if ToT offered a no-drop option! The queue and the rest of the ride is great, but I can't take the drops!

Love the orange side, so do my children; they were wee ones (5&7):earsboy::earsgirl: the first time they rode, my daughter (now 14) and I :earsgirl::earsgirl:rode orange in September (2016)...I screamed like a maniac! Cannot wait until November! :mickeyjum:ccat:

But it's not supposed to be a thrill ride. The spin isn't supposed to be felt as a spin. It's supposed to be felt as gforces, like you're actually lifting off of a planet and shooting into space.

So I think the wrong expectations for the ride are what caused the disappointment.

Respectfully I totally disagree. It's even listed as a thrill ride on Disney's official website. They had to create level green after orange ended up being too "intense" for some people. 2 people died after riding it(granted, with pre-existing conditions but I don't think anyone died after riding It's a Small World). How did I have wrong expectations? What else is needed to consider it a thrill ride? I never said I was expecting it to spin, I just know that you in fact are spinning to create the effect of G-forces. And I would guess that any astronaut would say that lifting off in a rocket is pretty darn thrilling, so if that's what they're trying to simulate, I would guess they would want it to feel, well, thrilling!

It's honestly just my opinion. It's a thrill ride, even according to Disney, and it's one that does not impress me.

I like orange better. Star Tours makes me sick after 1 ride, but orange doesn't bother me as much as the green side on Mission Space.

I prefer Orange as a single, wifey and I do green when she rides.

Same here! My wife gets motion sick so when I ride with her, we do the green side. But I always prefer to do orange as a single rider. The motion doesn't bother me.

I don't need to hear from people who DON'T like Orange (or the ride at all) I wanted to see if there was anyone who DOES like it.

I don't get too motion sick, so I wanted to try it, but if there is like, no one who likes it I guess I would try green.

My husband likes the Orange only, his words exactly: " I feel that it is the only way to get any sense of the true experience. Otherwise you are just watching a movie in a claustrophobic seat! Lol
It can be a very intense ride for a lot of people though, so heed the warnings, and if you have ANY of the health cautions... Do not ride."

I personally hated it, BUT I am claustrophobic and have anxiety so that should have been my first clue I wouldn't enjoy it (duh!) and the fact there are barf bags available was another one.... ;) So he rides alone.

Being an oldtimer, I was there when they had the big problem with MS when, by coincidence two people died after riding it. Both had pre-existing conditions. I had also heard about many people complaining about motion sickness so it was two years before I finally made the decision to try it. I was just sitting there and reminded myself that I have never had any motion sickness or even fainted. I did knock myself out once, but, that would be a different thread. I went on it and after I did something I have never done before. The ride stopped and I actually yelled out... "This is awesome".

I rode the orange side many times and never had any balance or sickness problems, however, I did notice something else. When the g-forces were applied I had trouble breathing. That isn't for a long time, very brief, but, I finally decided to breath through my mouth instead of my nose and that helped, but, I would forget every time. My problem was that I have COPD and the compression from the g's put pressure on my chest cavity and made breathing slightly more difficult. It wasn't enough to cause any real problems, but, I decided to try and ride the green side. Well, I found that to be as much fun as the orange side without the side effects. That is what I do now. Anyone that has never experienced motion sickness or breathing issue, can probably do the orange side worry free. But, if in doubt go green. It really is a fun ride.

I feel like I'm waaaay in the minority here, but I don't enjoy this ride very much, not because it makes me sick, but I think it's boring! :confused3

This!!!!! I had never done the orange side because my husband gets sick on simulator rides so we tried green once, and neither of us saw the point so didn't try it again. Finally this past November my mom's husband wanted to do the orange side so I jumped at the chance to try it with someone, womp womp. I just don't see the draw, it wasn't thrilling, it didn't make me sick, and I even tried by closing my eyes and looking around the car the best I could (we actually both did). We got out and the other two people in our pod were complaining about how sick they felt and we were just not understanding it :confused3.

I'm planning my first trip and I'm not sure about this attraction. I read through all your comments but I'm not sure I understand how this ride works. I love tea cups and Star Tours in Disneyland but I'm very claustraphobic. Is the pod that is mentioned small? How does the ride work. I tried to find a ride through on YouTube but couldn't find one.

If you are very claustrophobic I really would advise you skip this ride. The pod is very small, very little room to move and you're closed in. You wont be able to find a video because you're in a tiny pod looking directly into a screen that is only about a foot from your face. The ride is a simulator of a rocket launch through space, so the TV screen youre looking at is supposed to be what youre "experiencing". You won't be able to tell, but the pods will spin around in a circle extremely fast to create a "g-force" sensation like taking off into space at hyper speed and being weightless. I imagine it would be a nightmare for someone claustrophobic.

I've only ridden orange. It's not my favorite ride - it's okay, but slightly boring as far as "thrill" rides go. I do have problems with motion sickness: I get carsick fairly easily, I have a hard time sitting on small boats in the ocean unless they're moving fast, and I sometimes get sick on subways when they're going slow. But the only ride at WDW that's ever made me feel ill was Star Tours right after it was changed to the new format. I felt sick for about an hour after riding (subsequent rides haven't affected me).

I like it.
Doesn't make me ill at all.
What I tell people is if they can handle a ride like the Gravitron at their local fair or amusement park the orange team should really be no big deal.

I have motion issues with virtual rides but still will do and like the Orange side as I've learned pretty well how to compensate for the motion on it. I always liked it, just can't ride it multiple times and had to figure out how to handle it. Tried Green once and quickly went back to Orange - didn't see the point of Green if I could handle Orange. I have one nephew that can't do it (tea cups do him in too) but everyone else in the family is always gung ho to get to it.

And if you don't have motion sickness issues nor issues with tight enclosed spaces don't bother with the green - just do the orange. I don't know why anyone would prefer Green if they otherwise were fine on Orange.
