Does anyone else's cat... ahem....

I haven't been back on until now to check this... I am relieved to know I'm no tin the minority. Also wasn't expecting my second tag in 24 hours to come out of it either!

Pippin is really slender though. He's a Siamese so he doesn't get pleasantly plump, like so many other of our boot scooters do.

I'd be nice to teach them how to flush the toilet like one of the abover posters! It's like Meet the Parents!

My Siamese (16 lbs of muscle but not overweight) does this when something gets stuck back there. (Like, er, won't come out all the way.)

Needless to say, I am not very amused when I have to clean the carpet after him!!

dogs do this alot when they need their anal glands expressed...if this is something that your vet hasn't checked, you might want to have him check.

Krista TX - My Mom's vet actually showed her how to do it, so she wouldn't have to keep coming in to the vets. My Mom was "Thanks, but I shall keep coming here for you to do it"

Our geriatric cat (18 1/2 years old) just started leaving skid marks about a year or so ago. We've had his glands expressed a few times since, but it doesn't help with his scooting. We are always chasing after him with baby wipes when we know he's used his litterbox! :cat: Boy, are we TIRED of cleaning the carpet!

Also, we'd been blaming the cat for everything, until we noticed a small spot where our geriatric dog (14 years) had been sitting. So now we know if it's skid marks, it was the cat, and if it's round, it's the dog.

The things we do for love! paw:

My cat only did this once. When she was a kitten, I used Tidy Cat regular clay litter. She wouldn't cover her messes, so I switched to the Tidy Cat clumping. She used to cover more, but has gotten lazy lately. So one nite, at the store I thought I could switch back to the clay litter & save some money as the clumping was not on sale, & I was completely out.

Well, I switched the litter, unbeknowst to the cat. She started using the litter & halfway through, must have realized the switch. She jumped out & scooted across the newly cleaned carpet RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME to finish the job! :furious:

I verbally let her have it to no end, saying, "If you don't like the litter, just let me know!" She just looked at me with a, "I just DID let you know."

One of our kitties leaves skids on the carpet. She is 15, but she's an Oriental shorthair and very slender. I just think she can't be bothered to turn around - easier to drag her bum across the floor and be done with it.

Our kitten (who just turned a year so I guess she's not so much a kitten now) is huge but doesn't seem to be a skidder. She just goes around with clumpy bum until someone notices and scrubs her off with a baby wipe!

LOL--"clumpy bum." :lmao:

My cat also does this occasionally, mainly when he has one that, er, gets stuck, and he's figured out that if he does it when I'm not home, there's much less yelling as a result. Thankfully, it hardly ever happens.
