Does anyone else still call them PS instead of ADR?

:thumbsup2 I agree with the whole post - but highlighted my favorite point.

I actually considered starting a thread "Appies and Ressies and Trippies" Annoying or cute?

Appies and Ressies and Trippies?
Oh my!:scared1:

(actually, I don't even know what appies and trippies are? Why not do a thready on this? )

Maybe WDW decided to change PS to ADR because when people had their PS and had to wait for a table, and didn't understand the concept about the next available table for their size party they were getting real PS ssed off.

Even better - how about "Appies and Ressies and Trippies - oh Nooooooooooooooo!"?

Appies = appetizers
Trippies = trip reports

Isn't that so (gag!) cute? :lmao:

I just call it reservation - Disney doesn't call it ADR at all. Just this board *shrug*

I'm with you on this... I use ADR because I don't want to have to type "reservations" every single time!

I still call it the Wedway People Mover. My kids said, "the what?? They don't have that here!" I wish it was still the Wedway because then it would atleast say that it was Walt's idea!

It took me a while to understand that POR was Dixie Landings. I thought they had built a new resort at first!

Just call them "PS". That not only makes more sense, but what they generally are anyhow. And any CM you talk to knows that term.

Being grumpy, I thought we should refresh this thread today. I'm working on our PSs now for August. :)

To which "it" are you referring? If you happen to mean the former MGM - now Disney Hollywood Studios - it's because the two companies no longer have the agreement they once did.

If you mean the dining thing...
- Originally, Disney allowed actual reservations, but only same-day or, if you were staying onsite, up to three days in advance;
- For whatever reason, Disney changed from actual reservations to 'extreme call-ahead' seating, some time in the 90s I think, and originally called it Priority Seating - PS
- Because (apparently), despite the procedure being explained to the Guest at the time of the call, enough Guests misinterpreted "Priority" to mean that they had preference over anyone else waiting, Disney kept the theory but changed the name.
- For about 45 minutes one day (or 45 days one year, or something), Disney changed the designation to "Advanced Dining Reservations".
- Now, and for at least the last couple of years, Cast Members have called them simply "reservations".

And thank god for those people. Actually, some may remember not only the system that prevented you from making reservations before the day of your meal, you had to go to the parks to do it, you couldn't call from your room, even on property. When Epcot first opened they had those booths where you had to go to talk to a person by camera phone. Great idea, IF you planed on being in the park first thing in the morning. But if you weren't it was a two hour round trip out of your day just so you could go back there later to eat. Those were hard times indeed. Then they changed it to something like 7 days ahead. Thank the gods for Priority Seating!:cheer2: (Plus PS is easier to type that ADR)

I started planning my first in '05. It was ADR back then and always will be for me.
