Wasn't it a great show last night? Meg just makes me smile. I remember the excitement of the first boyfriend stuff. Holding hands and that first kiss. Hope you guys liked it too!
Just last night my DH was telling me that he just doesn't get it. He can't figure out why I like it so much since I'm only 26 and therefore can't be nostaligic. I just told him that I was born in the wrong decade and was meant to come of age in the 1950s and 60s.
My DH, DD and I watch it every Sunday! We LOVE it! My DH and I grew up then, and I end up singing along with all of the songs. I used to watch American Bandstand all the time! Our DD (16) likes to watch it too. It's very real and deals with issues that can even be significant today.
We also like to watch because we're from the area they live in (Philadelphia) and even last night, my husband said "Why doesn't he (JJ) consider going to Lehigh University?" And that's just where he might end up!!!
I love this show! Last night was so much fun reliving the thrill of seeing the Beatles on Ed Sullivan and singing along. It really takes me back to a great time in my life.
It's great to see that others like this show! I hope that alot of people are watching it so it doesn't get cancelled. I do find it amazing how so many of the things still impact us today, or there are similarities. Like next week they will mention the polio vaccine. Right now a biggie will be the small pox vaccine. some people will get sick from it. I am a health care worker and they are talking about immunizations for us, so this is very timely for me, as I am worried about what to do.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this show! I tell everyone I can about it. I think it's pretty popular because I know it's been picked up for the full season. I live in a suburb of Philly, too, so that makes it even more special. But I love the characters, the story lines, and just the general "feel" of it. My favorite story line involves Meg and her first love. So cute!
I, too, LOVE this show. I missed it last night, though I forgot all about it and I was so looking forward to it.
It is one of the only true "family" shows that isn't constantly talking about sex or showing half naked people swearing, etc. I can sit with my kids and really ENJOY the show.
I know what you mean, WilmaBud, about the "feel" of it. It almost has that Little House on the Prairie feel. Can't explain it , but I wish there were more family shows like this on TV.
I really, really like it, but for some reason, I always forget it is on on Sundays. I missed it last night cuz DS's were watching a movie on the Disney Channel.
This is a GREAT show! The only bad thing is its on too early on Sunday. We go to Mass at 6 pm on Sundays, and by the time we get home and get settled in, its already almost over. I wish they would put it on at 9 or 10.
I try to watch it - got hooked a few weeks back - just before the holidays - I think it is very well done but seems I always have to go to my computer room to watch it without interference. It's a pretty good show!
DH & I watch this every week! I was a child of that era - I can well remember that Ed Sullivan show! My Sis & her DH watch it and they watch very little TV. BIL can tell that a certain song hadn't yet come out that they might be playing (he's a stickler for music details!)
That's a great show. I was a toddler during that time period so it's interesting watching how life really was different then. The social issues are especially touching: family dynamics, women's issues and rights, race relations, the respect level of youth, etc.
