Does anyone else HATE to clean?

I'm not talking about tidying up or running the vacuum. I mean real cleaning that involves a scrub brush and moving furniture.

I can't stand it. Some people get a sense of personal satisfaction from a clean house. All I get is tired.

I know that there are ways to speed-clean a house, but how often can you do that before you have to get down on your knees and scrub or move the furniture so that you can clean behind it? Cleaning can take me all day and then the house can be a wreck within 10 minutes of my DS coming home from school. It's so discouraging!

So, who else is willing to admit that it feels like a losing battle? I'm willing to let the dust bunnies takeover at this point!

well it isnt my favourite thing to do thats for sure :)

I do love a clean house but I dont love what I have to do to get it that way.

And yes,

cleaning house while the kids are still home is like shoveling snow in a blizzard.

I want to hire a maid. Anyone know how much they cost and how much they'll do?

Not me. I am one of those who gets satisfaction from having things neat and tidy and clean. This of course doesn't mean that I am always on top of all of the cleaning needs, just that I don't hate to do it.

Me, me, me!!! Count me in!!!
I try to keep things reasonably "presentable" but don't look in my closets and heaven forbid, don't go upstairs!!! :teeth: Nobody is up there, now that the DS and DD are grown and out on their own, so I figure, "why bother?" I know the dust bunnies have really taken over up there!!! I don't even enjoy doing the "normal" things like vacuuming and dusting anymore. You do all that and the next day it's getting dirty again, ugh!! Laundry is really about the only household "chore" I don't mind doing. :)

ugh! I hate it, too and with 3 kids I've given up on even trying to keep it clean. It's a losing battle. And binny, a maid isn't the answer, either. We used to have someone come in once a week and I would stress out before she came because I had to have everything picked up by Friday morning (rather than on my own schedule) and then afterwards, the house would still be a mess! To give you an idea, our house is 4500 square feet and she'd sometimes finish in 2 1/2 hours! I'd wind up spending another hour or so cleaning up after she left.

The only positive thing about the whole experience was that we'd get a good laugh over some of the nutty things she did. THe worst example: My MIL used her as well (she recommended her in the first place  ) and finally wound up firing her after she caught her cleaning the bathtub WITH THE TOILET BRUSH!!  :crazy2:

I also HATE to clean. I don't mind the little things like dusting and vacuuming. I'm very lucky, though, my husband is the opposite and LOVES to clean.

I DESPISE cleaning!!! It's a dirty word at my house...LOL!!

I never feel like I'm caught up in this area and I don't think I ever will be. :(

My mom keeps suggesting a maid once every other week but I'm like KimR - I'd stress out more before the maid came - it wouldn't be worth it to me!!

I do not enjoy cleaning at all! I do it because I have to...along the lines of root canal!

Yes, I hate to clean, too! I have the time now, but not the inclination. Sometimes I feel so trapped by this house. The job that won't go away!

I do like to organize, though. I am more apt to leave a full sink of dishes and go clean out a closet.

<SIZE=3>This may be hard to believe but I'm a housekeeper by profession in a large nursing home. I clean from 7am till 3pm, 5 days a week. And let me tell you the resident rooms can get absolutely filthy in no time at all. Anyhow, after a day at work I just don't even want to think about tackling my own home. Today is my day off.......and you can see what I'm doing! LOL.</SIZE>

I also hate cleaning, which is why I have a housekeeper. She is WONDERFUL and keep my house in tip top shape. She comes once a week, and cleans EVERYTHING (even dusts the moldings), even moves the furniture!!! I've never had any problems with her, and a lot of people in my neighborhood use her. At first, I used to stress about making the house "presentable" for her, but now I don't do anything. Since she's here once a week, the house doesn't get too bad, and I do tidy up every night, with what needs to be put away. All of the kids toys are in the basement, so that gets attention once every couple of weeks, but if I don't get to it, my housekeeper picks it up for me.

Yup! Absolutly!!

Hate it with a passion!!

Love things clean & tidy, just don't like doin' it!!

Me, me! I hate cleaning with a passion. I think it was from
having a working mom growing up, and being the eldest I had to clean a lot. Now it almost takes an act of congress to get me started.:) Now for all of you obsessive/compulsive cleaning types, come on over, you'll be sure to work out those obsessions at my place.:bounce:

Kim,
Me too, I used to clean all the time while my mom was at work. Now I hate to clean and I do not even really like to pick up. I will wait until right before DH gets home and "pick up" until I hear the garage door open. Sometimes I do not get everything done that I wanted to and I am afraid I am going to get in trouble:rolleyes: Then I remember, this is DH not DM, I can't get in trouble::yes::

Count me in! I hate cleaning too!

With 3 DS's and 1 DH who are always in motion -- i feel like a hamster on a wheel when i am trying to keep the house clean!

I hate cleaning also. I feel like it never gets done. I have two kids and all I usually have the energy to do when they are asleep is to tiddy up.

I love cleaning and going to the bathroom

I HATE, HATE,HATE, cleaning the house. I have it down now that everyone helps one day a week, and we can get the house done in an hour. It's not the cleanest house on the block, but like I told them when I started this little deal 2 years ago. 1hour x 4 is 4 hours I can be doing something more exciting. Break down is as follows. DS (12) cleans glass, runs vacumn, takes out trash. DD(7) dusts low things like the moldings and chair bottoms and vacumns stairs, DH cleans bathroom and kitchen and I dust and pick-up and change beds in all the rooms. The kids do their own rooms. Its not pretty, but it works.

The cleaner my house is, the more my kids ask "who's coming over?" or my SO asks "what did I do this time?":p
